episode 1 of season 3 clears most shows’ entire seasons tbh
litteraly one if the worst episodes of the entire series. Its objectivly bad. How many times does this show need to reiterate its entire plot. It offers nothing new, both in its story / characters. It becomes incredibly repetitive and after 10 minutes of montages the effects rubs off and over stays its welcome. You could skip the episode and you wouldn't miss a single beat.

It’s crazy that some say “how many times they gonna reiterate the plot” while others say “there’s no plot this season nothing happens” lol
But I been said they doing way too many flashbacks of s*** we’ve already seen happen. It comes across as if they tryna remind us “remember when this happened in S2, remember when this happened in S1”
That song that played throughout the first ep of the new season been playing in my head ever since I heard it. So good
Looks like the season is officially going down as a divisive classic. I’ll be standing over here on the right side of history
Safe to assume S4 is more of a S3.5 (plot wise) by how that ended
With the slow intimate character builds this season, i feel they all get a crescendo in this part 2
Also we know both these seasons were filmed back to back aswell

"Objectively" is a stretch, lol.
Not everything has to be plot-driven. This was more of a character-driven episode. Not to mention the cinematography and editing was top-notch.
It was a masterful and beautiful episode that further fleshed out Carmen.
Apart from the obvious, one of the major reveals that just as Sydney disobeyed Carmen and served her dish when it wasn't "ready" and it was a hit, Carmen did the same with Chef David and the dish with fennel. Carmen rebelled, citing a supposed fennel allergy as an excuse to do the dish his way and the person that ended up receiving it? Sydney. She later told Marcus later that it was the best dish she’d ever had and it made her seek out Carmen when looking for a job.

Good observation about the Sydney x Carmy connection in the first episode cause it then directly ties into their dynamic in the finale with Sydney getting anxiety attacks
People saying nothing happened which is almost the point because the whole season is built on this full circle thing going on with David, Carmy, and Sydney
Not to discredit anyone who disliked the season. If it’s not for you it’s not for you and that’s ok
Ultimately I think it depends on how much you enjoy hanging out with the characters. I’ve mentioned before that I always viewed this as a status quo hangout show so I wasn’t going into it looking for a huge turn in story progression or anything

I thought the tie in back to Sydney was dope
curious where syd’s panic attack means things go next season
imo they were drawing a parallel between her and Carmy's experience with David. Earlier she told Luca about how she never had any of "the bad" being an only child in a non disfunctional family. Her choice now is between an "easy" job where she will be spotlighted for her current level of tallent vs the grinding anxiety inducing experience she has now. Which one will make her complacent and which will make her excellent? They cut to her remembering Carmy telling her the dishes aren't quite ready yet earlier in the ep also. David emotionally destroyed Carmy but made him the better chef. I'm not sure which she will choose as the easier choice is more appealing but if the ultimate goal is greatness she will stay.
I think they created too many story lines to properly move them along in 30 minute episodes and that's why this season felt like they got nothing done.
i loved the series as a whole. the end was not what i wanted and if i have to wait for a year that’ll be pretty disappointing. but as a whole i loved it i thought it was such enthralling compelling tv. i shed tears during a couple episodes. tina’s episode is probably the best in the show. the season had so much to offer
Still got 3 episodes left but I really don’t mind that this season is a little slower and has less of an overarching plot. It’s more in line with a cable TV episodic, but that’s okay with me.
I feel like they doubled down on giving us character backgrounds and really fleshing everything out and I fw that. Pretty much every character outside of Carmy has gotten more interesting this season. And let’s be real.. we could only sit with Carmy’s anxiety for so long.
They’ve made space to let some other characters take the forefront, and I think that will pay off if they go with a more linear plot next season.
Will update my thoughts after I finish the last few episodes
Yeah it's over pack it up
