Love how controversial people finding this season.
S*** reminds me of Mr robots second season, every week a new nigga would say they can’t take it

Now knowing that season 3 and 4 were filmed back to back, this season's execution makes more sense. Hopefully we won't have to wait to long for season 4

They actually only filmed a few scenes for 4 since the scripts weren't ready yet, think they might start up again before the end of the year

ayo looks so cute in this scen it honestly first time a women on screen took my breath away, its more so the moment in context but her off work beauty was so striking and innocent it really had me feelin things
My critique is that I don’t feel like I got much out of the episode. Essentially, I’m saying it’s filler.
agree to disagree respectfully but i could see why u feel that way friend

Oh Christopher is still writing?
its controversial because some may argue its meandering. it's a slow burn character study, less interested in the heat of the moment, burst at the seams kitchen drama, and more interested in taking a step back, widening and narrowing the scene shot composition wise, and really humanizing the characters in subtle and little ways. there's no big reveal like the first season. there's no looming deadline like the 2nd season. there's a lot of flashbacks.
it's very much a season thats tied to the next, more so than s1 was tied to 2. they very much can stand on their own, because despite the cliff hangers, there's an obvious goal that the characters are trying to achieve, and they end with the characters achieving said goals.
there's less of that here and more interest in getting to know the characters, their connection to their work, their place, and their relationships. characters that didnt get one off's or much screen time last season, get more shine here.
there's a reoccuring motif that prestige, legacy, and high class comes with cutting off the fluff. we see them go full michelin status with a strict reservation only, creative 7-9 tasting course, 11 madison park style server experience. this reflects in the storytelling their trying to achieve, by less dialogue, holding onto shots longer, a willingness to stew in silence. its all incredibly done and the to be continued in the end heavily implies this is the kind of season that needs to meander a bit to set up the stakes for the next season.
i love the themes of legacy and passing your trauma onto others. Eg Chef david > carmy > sydney, donna's mum > donna > nat > the baby.
And the concept of "cutting the fluff" being challenged by showing the characters finding support in people theyve had past difficulties with, eg richie with his ex, nat with donna, carmy missing that with claire.
Reminds me of what that chef told carmy about not wanting smoke, but wanting music. Finding harmony with difficult people from your past

Dope. Still lookin forward to the rest of the season. The episode with Jamie Lee Curtis sounds cool. That’s my fav character.
ppl prolly gonna be asking about the jacket carmy wears in ep9 while he’s hosing down the back of the restaurant
Why did I not notice that the show has opening credits until episode 2 of this season? Lol. Were those always there?
I like how the opening credits of episode 2 is more effective at creating a vibe than all of episode 1
Season 4 used to be peak for prestige shows
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
The Wire
Sopranos season 4 was GOATED too

There actually is a goal this season which is to get a star it’s just not spoon fed to the audience every second so they “think” nothing is happening when actually a lot is.

Nah Ep 1 is a prologue and Ep 2 is the actual first episode of the season, tradition wise with credits and all

Or if you mean past seasons I can’t remember. I know Ep 6 “fishes” last season had opening credits
This season has a more cinematic vibe to it
