Super long thread so unsure if this was posted here, but this is a cool dl of a pretty educated guess of what Smile would have looked like had it been released in 67. I also put You're Welcome as the second to last track on my personal version, easy to download off youtube.

in that’s on @2words what u think of this?

also if you’re into that id have to get back to you once i got my documentation of smile back - not sure if i wanna post itt or make new thread for it, but it greatly helps to overall see what to make of smile, very intense reading tho, it goes from the first mention smile in public ever to the very last time when it got officially shelved

also we speak about smile and posted some of its great songs but never shared heroes n villains which we can’t take for granted, one of the richest brian compositions ever, as great as surf’s up itself

here’s an amazing acapella cover by the power pop act the rubinoos

wes anderson, now that’s respect! this is the culture brian belongs to, not what his circle brainwashs him into

also always LOVED the artwork for the smiley smile single

much like surf’s up or any other smile song for that matter it’s hard to talk about it without nerdin out hard as there is so much to say about it, but to keep it light (just woke up) i found this interesting essay video about it:

soniclovenoise’s Smile is definitely well respected and it was important for my Smile journey. It’s recommended listening for someone who wants something closer to a 60s Smile. That said, I still have some issues with it. Smile remains elusive

Vigotone Smile, a boot from the 90s released as a 2CD and colored 3LP

    1. Heroes and Villains (7:06)
    2. Do You Like Worms (3:56)
    3. Medley: The Old Master Painter / You Are My Sunshine (1:11)
    4. Wonderful (2:06)
    5. Child Is Father Of The Man (1:56)
    6. Prayer (1:09)
    7. Cabin-Essence (2:34)
    8. Good Vibrations (3:33)
    9. Vege-Tables / I'm In Great Shape (3:34)
    10. Wind Chimes (2:23)
    11. Mrs. O'Leary's Cow (2:07)
    12. Cool Cool Water (2:57)
    13. Surf's Up (5:18)

Then another album worth of outtakes.i find it the most organic, spooky, and accurate version I’ve heard. No frills, just the music

Second choice is Good Vibrations Box Disc 2

I wish, but I’m buying the next one I see. I’ve seen a couple here and there recently. It was circulating around 93. Better than the color is the assembly of material. It strikes a great balance between having a great single LP sequence containing the 12 core titles on the first 2 sides, and the rest of the titles and sessions on the next 3 sides labeled as “Bag O Tricks”, with the final side being a 25 minute smile party recording

The zip is out there and it’s amazing

the smile sessions is the only album i can think of that can be compared to the star wars legacy - with all its fans trying to redo the original cut or digressing and ending making a different edit etc etc

damn that’s real usually love you takes more listens because it’s not as accessible, very unique album not just for the boys but in general

brian fav album is love you:

he been meaning to make a love you tour forever, around a decade for now, and his band has heavily implied some rumors for it - unfortunately it has never seen the light of the day to this day, i doubt it’s probably too late by now ... my guess is his entourage, if not just his wife, discourages him out of it as they don’t see much commercial or marketing value for it, hence why hes been doing the “final pet sounds performance” for some years now, it’s a treat for ppl like rvi or me or anyone to experience it but it’s not what he wants to do
