is brian among your best experience?
is brian among your best experience?
it was great but not really. some of those geezers manage to sound as good as they used to but Brian isnt one of them (Bowie, McCartney, Fogerty, Ray Davies, Neil Young, Stones, Sabbath and Prince were)
WTT will probably alway be my #1, seeing Runway etc when they were fresh was a spiritual experience. Yeezus and Pablo were amazing but he was really on fire the night i saw him in 2011.
Arcade Fire the second best, especially on the Neon Bible tour
Springsteen by far the best geezer still touring, more relentless energy than most young bands.

real

i love this song so much, it’s SO brian
like what else from the 70s sounds like that type of song? production wise mixed it’s songwriting
theres millions folk dylan copycats or pink floyd prog copycats but this is so stand out, brian just invents stuff that are non identifiable it’s genuinely a magic touch

oh yeah i mean brian vocally it’s a different story, it can’t be compared to neil or david or anyone else bc of his history or what is expected..but i thot maybe because of the show they put on you know? it’s one of a kind
i love like no matter how big the arrangement is everything you hear on the record can be heard or seen on stage they never went cheap
mf saw yeezus, tlop and wtt tho
that luck
yeh if i had done those two i can imagine them being at the top
yeah I saw an article a few weeks back that was just like "Commemorating the Beach Boys car concept albums" and it was just a celebration of LDC and Shut Down 2, and I was like damn that's a real take
come to think of it yeh even don’t worry baby isn’t really about a girl
@Teal_ is friends your favorite?
Friends is definitely one of my favorites. Tbh, the Lofi trilogy is my favorite era of their career and what I usually listen to when I'm in the mood for the beach boys.

yeah I always hear Springsteen shows are f***in nuts, I have friends who aren't even fans of his records who always go and see him whenever he's here in Australia
still rocking those 3 hour sets with all that energy at his age

Yeah it sucks to admit but it felt like an (especially zany) oldies revival. It was a really long time ago but I remember thinking dang he's past the point of really delivering a moving falsetto vocal

i myself was reading this the other day, amazing read:
dojotonepublications.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/THE-BEACH-BOYS-Part-3.pdf
incredible in depth read of the 70s artworks with comments and background stories etc for each, very detailed
@Fantasy check this out!

it’s heartbreaking bc i think he still can do falsetto actually.. there’s a video somewhere of a 2012 (reunion tour) performance where he caught himself going for the falsetto on good vibration on that pre chorus section but then is cut off n jeff foskett takes over
it’s weird
but yeah then again u gotta keep in mind that he recorded many of those when he was a teen and pushed a lot into it, not only not many can keep such falsetto this old but also brian had an anti falsetto phase in the 70s (when voices such as tom waits or randy newman were taking ovet and falsetto was seen girly) where he did some exercises to destroy his falsetto 😞 which results in how he sounds on love you.. it’s sad bc not sure he really recovered from tht but it’s a bit of a mystery, he prolly can do it but not as long, idk but ifeel that yeah
