That collaborated was good but I always felt like it left more to be desired. I didn't even know Janelle Monae was a fan of the beach boys, but I'm not surprised at all. Good taste from both sides.
i feel itâs a good intro and to start the album with brian is quite a treat, from both sides!
I remember being in 1st/2nd grade watching full house religiously thinking man this beach boys music does not hit
Im 23 now and damn this s*** still doesn't hit at all. I understand the sound resonates more with the time it came out than now but damn all I can see when I hear beach boys is nerdy white ppl (no offense) swiping the peace sign over their eyes over and over

well, frank ocean, jpeg mafia and more stans them so idk about that lol i think u ainât hearing the right stuff - especially if its coming thru full house booiii even i didnât watch that
woat era for the band

howâs that?
real, thats on @Moody_mann opportunity will prolly never happen again
what pisses me off is im sure, at least regarding frank ocean, it had to do with brians camp and what they judge what âhe should be doing musically or associated withâ and not brian himself, instead they got him this s***ty singer from that one hit wonder capitol cities MF U THINK BRIAN GIVES A F*** ABOUT THAT CAPITOL SINGER
hereâs to remember, at least this collab inspired what would be blonde

I dont remember Lana being on the song. I remember hearing Frank wanted to rap on Brians song and Brian didn't want it so they didn't collab.
Franks a particular dude for sure. It's also weird to think how many legends know Frank exists lol.

lana was a diff song, but she didnât make it bc schedule issues iirc
again like i suggest i highly doubt brian didnât want frank to rap or make a more urban track w/him (brian did a rap song in 1990) but more his camp and current wife over controlling him and his media, what he should be putting out, unfortunately brian is kind of a puppet to them.. heâs old
he been touring âthe last pet sounds tourâ for years now, trust me it is not what he genuinely wants to be doing, itâs just what his camp wants to milk out of and think is right for his audience, which most are, you know pitchfork readers, etc, but i canât blame these fans wanting to get the pet sounds experience
hell i myself went to that tour ngl

but at the same time I feel for you
in fact brian announced a new solo album he was working on named âsensitive music for sensitive peopleâ which got me hyped unlike his last album which was a label project conducted by his family and entourage of what they wanted to hear him do and collab with, this sounds like a real brian genuine album, the same guy who wanted to name âlove youâ âbrian loves youâ so you know with a name like this itâs an actual brian concocted album material
unfortunately he announced that late 2016 and well we still havnt got a word from it
maybe itâs shelved bc his camp think itâs not commercial valuable....
but at the same time I feel for you
Lmao not here to ruffle any feathers. I know they are legends with classics on classics but I assume since I was raised on 90's and early 2000's hip hop and r&b by both sides of the family... It was gonna be pretty hard for any other genre to do something for me

C'mon bruh You know that's no excuse. I mostly grew up around my brother's music and they only listen to Hip-Hop and R&B, mostly black s***. But when I heard "Wouldn't it Be Nice" for the first time none of that s*** mattered to me. But I understand that there's certain things in music that speaks to us in different ways, depending on your race and whatnot. Like if I hear some Funk and polyrhythmic grooves it's gonna hit way harder than your average white fella named "Brad". But there's certain music that is transcendent of that and albums like Pet Sounds is a clear example of what I'm talking about.
like i already said my first impression listening to pet sounds was while doing gang territory wars in san andreas
I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS MIX
can we take a minute to appreciate daft punks tribute to the bbs?
namedropping brian wilson on the song teachers off of their first album homework:
!https://youtu.be/c_-ZhFrNfMQfrom the booklet of homework:
the beach boys cd carefully placed in the middle isnât some random cheap ass compilation, itâs an extra bb cd that came in the european edition of the beach boys back then first box set titled good vibrations in celebration of their 30y career (which you can imagine was very pricey)
also before even becoming daft punk they were in a band named darlinâ which they named after this amazing soulful song by the bbs:
!https://youtu.be/iXhB2uETzP0and for last, during ram era:
âOnce I saw his car in the parking lot of the studio, and I stopped and stared for two minutes at it,â said Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. âIt would be too overwhelming to meet Brian Wilson. I think I would faint. Another time in the same parking lot I saw Mick Jagger, but from the back, walking away. I didnât get lucky.â

lowkey wish dp wouldâve collaborated with brian on touch instead of paul williams
that wouldâve made for a modern ambitious brian song

He married vro
did you know brian and bobby did a song together lol? it was scrapped, itâs not the best stuff because it was done in the eighties, rough times for both artists, i like it tho itâs innocent

Jesus, that ear. He should donate it to the Smithsonian. The records I used to listen to and still love, you can't make a record that sounds that way. Brian Wilson, he made all his records with four tracks, but you couldn't make his records if you had a hundred tracks today.
also i just found out about this
