I'm listening to an album right now so I'll watch that video later
Did they rip off other artists their whole career or just the beginning like every rock band form that era (doing covers etc)
same guitar riff on surfin usa as a berry song
Yes really @rvi weigh in
(OFF TOPIC)
was gonna save it for Neil thread but i am very interested to hear what he has to say about it
always saw singer-songwritery neil as distinctly folk and country combined, more country than most of his folk peers but certainly not pure country
plus the innate folkiness of country music in general and the possible argument that country is itself a form of folk

those aren't covers. they stole.
no one cares about the rapist pedophile known as chuck berry
yes we do
@TheGarden you better be prepared to stand by your claim and argument it well cuz this thread houses bbs experts
You shouldn't come in a thread and disturb it like that for no reason, if you want to have an interesting discussion even about controversial topics surrounding beach Boys - do it in good faith please
all the rock legends are chucks son.
aren't you the same weirdo who said ian connor was the biggest influence in music of the last 10 years?
what does any of that have to do with the beach boys STEALING music ?
you realize how many rock and roll artists "stole" from chuck berry tho? and its less a thievery than a direct homage which it was always acknowledged as and Chuck credited as writer starting in 1966
if Chuck was rightfully credited as writer on the original release there would be absolutely no conversation about them "stealing"
wind chimes
chuck berry is credited on the song tho so he got royalty from it
try again next time π€
what does any of that have to do with the beach boys STEALING music ?
and this

not to mention of course that the borrowing, referencing and cover is important part of the tradition of that lineage of music particularly blues ofc
all these element tracks f*** with my head
