guess i got an album to listen to on the bus tomorrow now
but i do rank it in my trinity of best bbs album with pet sounds and sunflower
(if smile doesn’t count - that album is music at its summum peak anyway)

🌹🌼🌺💐🌸🌾🌷
love you came in 1977 (10y after pet sounds) and was the first album since pet sounds where all songs were written and produced by brian, much like how pet sounds did in 1966 by bringing sounds and a whole concept that wasn’t heard anywhere else in the landscape, love you brings in its era a whole production and sound that can’t be found elsewhere - it’s polar opposite from pet sounds however, very minimalist and raw, an album soaked in moog synths and a rough brian vocals (who was then at his worst physically and mentally unlike the myth of him being at his lowest after pet sounds “failure”)
it’s not an easy accessible album, it’s a one of a kind album, but that’s what makes it great and such a stand out, it’s as unfiltered brian as it gets - all the way to its title
fun fact: the first single off of pet sounds “caroline, no” is released under brian wilson and not the bbs, which makes it technically his solo debut, this should give a picture of how much it kinda started
love you in a similar way was also started as a solo album, it’s original title was “brian loves you” and it features his wife vocals on it

Bro
pure Brian Wilson nothing to interrupt his creativity
can't wait to bump
It's weird how their music after the 60s is slept on

no Surfs Up?
no Surfs Up?
it’s right bellow
the fact it has student demonstration time and stuff like 4th of july or wouldn’t it be nice to live again were left off of it and buried in dust for decades is too painful 😭

yeah i guess my version without SDT and including the extended Till I Die and also (Wouldnt It Be Nice) To Live Again as a bonus track has distorted my perception a bit
