Find me one episode as dark as the plot of the Batman , dark night or bvs

Tim Drake (portrayed as a literal teen) getting rebranded as mini joker and getting scarred for the rest of his life, a grown ass former child star trapped in a little girl's body losing her sanity, Perchance To Dream, Dreams in Darkness episodes

edit: oh and the clayface stuff is dark as hell

That’s dark but not in the same sense . That’s more tragic but I get you . We saying why not clayface or some level of super natural that again even the games presented

and just to be clear, i am not a realistic batman truther. some of my favorite villains are fantastical. i just prefer the grounded approach (again, not necessarily realistic). arkham games are grounded too.

and the most beloved batman comics are dark, so are the adaptations (arkham games, BTAS, Nolan, Reeves)

This is what I’m saying. All of the most popular and beloved Batman content is also the stuff that leans toward a darker, more serious tone. That’s not a coincidence

I think grounded is the better term for it

yeah. i won't be furious if Reeves leaves fantastical out of this, but i would prefer if at least some fantastical parts were brought to the mix.

Then we agree lol . Don’t need a trilogy or two movies of just psychopaths and serial killers

So then Nolan’s version was the only version that was super realistic then

Because Snyder’s version been dealing with aliens and all other kinda crazy s***

Again Batman was TOO OVERLY SERIOUS AS A CHARACTER IN BVS to take him seriously in anything after . Did he change in tone in justice league or later part of bvs ? Yes but overall his character was OVERLY DARK.

Because that was the Dark Knight Returns version of the character, who is overly stoic and serious

Part of the reason the Martha part didn’t work and Batman faith tone after is because he was TOO DARK AND REALISTIC even when it came to aliens . Then in future apocalypse he is again TOO DARK AND REALISTIC. Cool there are aliens in his universe it doesn’t change his writing . What is unclear .

okay. that's not a a fair thing to say lol. just because that iteration was bad doesn't mean others weren't the most beloved
snyder's fascist ass approach mixed with the dated inherently fascist TDKR batman was never gonna be good. and ignoring all that, if the writing was at least ok that iteration would probably be universally liked

I think many of us are saying Batman as a character can only be so self serious before you trend on watchmen Rorschach level
