Soderburgh is a big fan of the first film, wants to ensure as smooth as a transition as possible, wants nothing else but finish out the film to Matt’s exact vision, is working with Matt (and the cinematographer) to get the last few weeks of footage and then Matt will take over for the post production as he normally would.

It sounds like it was either this or scrapping the film, so I think this is somewhat a win

I feel like we aren’t even going to be able to tell by the time the film comes out. And in 40 years, the fact Soderbergh even did this will be a fun fact that isn’t much talked about because of how little it is felt in the final product

Going from the current job to the DCU one which will likely require way more work probably isn't the move for him like being DCU Batman would essentially be his main job for the next 10-15 years.

Pattison made it clear years ago he doesn't see Batman as a superhero and he was interested in the role because of Matt and for the trilogy he had planned which was about crime so going from that to the DCU would be a huge leap.

Best scenario was a delay and whatever Matt dealing with he is able to finish this movie even if no third . But this isn’t terrible . While at the same time . I feel demanding his attention at home and post production while dealing with whatever is counter productive .

Idk why but I’m going back through Matt’s twitter. Dude was so excited to finally be shooting this. Talking about the lenses and types of film emulation etc. Sucks he can’t finish it out. Depending on if there is ever a third one, Matt could’ve already had his last day on a Batman set ever
