    ANTI

I mean, the very obvious subtext here is that if Reeves is, for whatever reason, unable to continue, it will start back up and be completed without him.

If this isnt directed by Reeves I am going to be honest my desire to watch in theaters day 1 will drop astronomically

Soderbergh working with Matt to finish the movie out

Although Reeves is unable to be on set, the two will work together and remain in communication until filming has ended, with Reeves taking over post-production duties when he is ready to return.

    -

Steven Soderbergh, as an admirer of Matt’s work, approached Matt and will step in to help the writer-director complete the final weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part 2. Matt and Steven will work closely together with the actors and crew to fulfill Matt’s vision of the film.”

    -

    Soderbergh also released a statement:

“I thought Matt Reeves’ work on The Batman was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”

Why does it seem like they’re implying the film was almost done, there’s no way

So like is Matt going to direct over Zoom and Soderbergh is just going to be the physical presence?

  • Sodes is a real one for being the one to approach Matt to do this!

What an absolutely bizarre Hollywood story this movie is turning out to be.

I feel like one day we're eventually going to find out what is/was going on with Matt

Because it has to be pretty bad if he can't even physically be on set

  • Sodie almost got brought on for Solo and mentioned being offered a “similar situation” before

Incredibly interesting for him to step in here.

They gotta have like 3-4 weeks left tops anyway

I read something earlier that said had everything gone to plan they were targeting a late November/early December wrap.

Definitely December now but still technically final weeks.

For some reason I thought they’d be filming for longer considering how far away the release date is

Also, hope dude or his family is good but if he's not gonna be involved in Batman as a whole moving forward can't they just use Battinson in the DCU?

  • Reeves is eligible to lose his Directed By credit if Soderbergh is shooting over 10% of the movie

The only thing I have heard in regards to the situation is that it isn't Matt himself that's having issues? I don't know how true that is though

My theory is someone in his family dying. Maybe his wife or kid has a horrible illness. I would get someone saying ‘I don’t really care to be away from them in their final months to make my movie’ in those circumstances.

(Ofc normal people have to go to their job every day regardless of their tragedies but yeah. Empathy for those folks too)
