where is this coming from?
i think citizens of all classes should be concerned about their rights being infringed upon or the creep of authoritarian-type procedures
the "but COVID" excuse is getting wheeled out far too often as a convenient way to justify a lot of unsavoury behaviour (both serious and not)

i wouldnt have a problem with total loss of privacy if it meant that EVERYONE had access to EVERYONE's data. But as it stands only tech companies, ISPs, and the government do. I'm pretty extremist on privacy - either everything should be private or nothing should be.
Yes all citizens should be concerned but realistically it affects the poorer more because their data will only be used to hold them back or in place.
Oh and by the way as Australians we barely have rights (at least upheld by our constitution) unless you're a massive fan of free interstate trade :)

rights dont have to be legally defined for them to exist, but I get your point.
The general gist of what I'm saying is that the COVID excuse/justification is wearing thin and people should think more critically about whether it's being used as a lazy scapegoat, for political point-scoring or for more sinister purposes

absolutely, whether covid was purposefully engineered or not, governments are going to take advantage of the situation as much as they can
