That Marvin Gaye interview sampled throughout is well worth a listen in full too.
Sampled that goldmine too last year
He’s sampled it before hasn’t he? I’ve heard that voice on other projects
I would love to hear the “AlAlalchemist” tag get thrown in on special occasions
The RIP Tracy intro
Such a great use of build up. I was anxious those first 10 seconds wondering if we were getting Uneasy Steps
With his drumless or minimal drum beats sometimes I feel like he filters out too much of the highs and it leaves the beats feeling really muffled
Trouble Man is a good example of this. I’ve noticed he didn’t really do this at all up till like 2018
I personally think The Good Book and his La x Paris instrumentals (really everything he did at that time) were the perfect balance between his early 2010s sound and his current sound
Hm.
I think his beats are pretty clean. The only glaring/muffled mess I can think of rn is Big Syke off Sandwich.
However what you may be hearing as muffled in other songs I’m hearing as intentional texture (not saying either of us are right).
I actually think I know what you may be talking about tho. Is the song Sensational Sherri an another example of this to you? Because if so that type of s*** is exactly what I love from him lol.

Big Syke might be Alc’s worst beat of 2022
He shoulda put Fiberoptics with Vince and Boldy on Sandwich instead. Would’ve fit better sonically anyway
Yea.
Official. Larry June might dead be the most boring rapper I’ve ever heard fr fr no 🧢
And i was trying to like him since out the way but bro
Yeah I'ma need a MIKE x ALC project at some point man
RT
Who is MIKE? Don't recognize the name. That track is dope.
Production is literally flawless on this EP

It’s definitely intentional cause it gives his beats a warmer sound. I personally like more crispy high end tho. It doesn’t make a huge difference unless your listening on headphones, Especially if you play a song with a lot of high end first
Sensational Sherri is ok. It doesn’t sound that muffled but I’m not really the biggest fan of that beat
I’m about to post some beats I made in here cause I been influenced by Al a lot lately and I really want input from people who understand the sound like you

One More EP by Mike, Wiki and Alchemist might be up your alley. Especially the title track off that

The bass on Big Syke is so annoying and like completely overshadows everything else on the song I need him to remix/remaster that so bad like it’s not even dirty in a good way it just sounds awful
every track Al and MIKE have done together has been 10/10 at this point I'll take that over praying for an Earl x Al album
