The problem is we’re making more dumb people by having a poor education system.
So, it’s the few people with an education taking advantage of the masses.
Dumb people being taken advantage of is a tale as old as time. But the means of creating and exploiting dumb people is brand new like that rhymefest song

We’re speaking on a personal level.
The ToS are not hidden. Akin to signing a waiver before you play an extreme sport. And just like a waiver, you do not have to sign it.
Check this:
The other day I lost my 2FA to login to an online account. They wanted an upload of my government ID to recover the account.
F*** THAT!
That was a choice. Do I give them more access to my life to use their service, or do I walk away?
Obviously I chose the latter.
There’s no justification I can think of to allow them to have that level of intrusion into my life. I don’t need that service in my life that badly, either.
You are more valuable to Facebook, etc. than the other way around.

Valid, but the few have always carried the many all throughout history.
I at least try to make my family/friends understand what they’re getting into with these platforms.
Until there’s a better way forward, that’s what it’ll take.
