Okay think about it, why would you shoot a midrange when you can hit a 4 at a similar or slightly less percentage.
Let’s say you hit the midrange at 45 and the 4 at 37 you take the 4 everytime because it’s the better shot to take.
Dunking would get even more important though.

rn you need to be able to hit midrange at a 50 percent clip to return 1 point per possession correct? and 3s at 33%
well if u change the scoring you now only need to hit midrange at 33 percent and 3s at 25.
33-25 = 8
50-33 = 17
gap becomes way smaller between 3s and 2s u see what im saying so mid range shots would be more efficient relatives to 3s then they are currently

Agreed, my point is that its easier for a NBA player to shoot 25% from 3 than it is for them to shoot 33%.
25% would have centres pulling up as a semi respectable shot.
