PSYCHO RECORDS PRESENTS:
We all cope with our demons, but that word isn’t something as easy to use in the context of Lucki. In his second studio album, distributed by the enigmatic and newfound PSYCHO RECORDS, Lucki takes us on a metaphoric and somewhat literal journey down the spiraling staircase into the underworld from our own realm. Starting with a much more conventional style featuring frequent collaborators Plu2o Nash and F1LTHY, Lucki quickly dives into newer and more twisted sounds as we come closer and closer to his vision of hell. Among some of the newcomers in production include the twisted electronic-influenced beats of INDIGOCHILDRICK and Kelvin Krash, the echoing guitar tabs of Dean Blunt expertly laid over the bleak sample of an early rendition of The Weeknd’s “Coming Down,” and finishing off with a somber production from the group Mazzy Star, laid over by Lucki with raps reminiscent of his “Body High” days. Features are few and far between, but still memorable, with fellow Chicago rapper G Herbo and returning collaborator fka Twigs delivering verses on their respective songs. Alongside them are Death Grips frontman MC Ride (hook), Dean Blunt (hook, verse), and Mazzy Star frontwoman Hope Sandoval (hook, outro) giving their own perspectives of Lucki’s narratives on their tracks. The entire album is split in half by a 5 minute track produced by Oneohtrix Point Never, fresh off their hot streak with the Safdie Brothers and The Weeknd, signifying our first taste of Hell. Lucki gives just 1:30 of our time on this track, letting the vocal samples and synthesizers give their own show.

Vlonely Records Solo #1

A new album by ScHoolboy Q
At 33 years old, ScHoolboy Q is undoubtedly still one of the best at putting together a good old-fashioned banger. While his good friend Danny Brown has leaned towards making more laid-back music and said he’s too old to have mosh pits at his show, Q isn’t ready to give up that lifestyle. Trap Q is still strong as ever. His latest effort, WitH Apologies to My OldHeads, is a fun project that finds him channeling energies present in previous album cuts like “Die Wit Em” as well his features such as “Let It Bang” with A$AP Ferg, “3AM” with Maxo Kream, and “Lil Story” with Gucci Mane.
As an album sure to be an instant whip and concert classic, ScHoolboy Q uses this album to showcase his lyrical abilities on top of headbanging, tire burning, speaker blowing production.

Vlonely Records Solo Album #2 (POST 1 OF 2)

A new album by Playboi Carti
Executive produced by JPEGMAFIA
After so much anticipation, Playboi Carti finally returns with a new album. After claiming that the entirety of Whole Lotta Red had already leaked online, he makes a statement by naming his new effort Whole Lotta Red 2. As described in his Rolling Stone interview, WLR2 is his darkest music to date – he says this is what he wanted the original to sound like and personally described it as sounding like “hell.” With JPEGMAFIA organizing the project as executive producer, an experimental flare looms over the project, particularly in the way songs and transitions are structured. It has a rather distinct sonic progression, and some may find themselves classifying the project in two halves. The project begins with dark, 808-driven bangers. We all know Carti’s ability on tracks like this – they may be best demonstrated on his previous track “Cash S***” and his feature on “Back On The Act" with Southside.
After a few of these tracks, the production seems to gradually slow down a bit and the instrumentals seem to give a bit more breathing room. By Track 8, “Live Twice,” listeners will be noticing the “second act” of the project, which finds Carti vocalizing on wavy yet ominous instrumentals. Carti’s ability to excel on alternative instrumentals like this (though, these tracks hold a much darker tone than the ones about to be named) has been highlighted on tracks such as “Earfquake” with Tyler, The Creator, “Almeda” with Solange, and even "Flex" from his debut album to an extent.
Whole Lotta Red 2 proves to be Carti’s more ambitious project yet, and it will pay off for the true fans who have been patiently waiting to hear what he has to offer. Read his interview with Rolling Stone to learn more.
