An unexpected release appears on Playboi Carti's Apple Music and Spotify pages.

Hellboi Carti - Single (Prod. Kelvin Krash)

With no official releases in almost two years, Playboi Carti finally re-emerges with his new semi-self-titled single, "Hellboi Carti." The track is produced by Kelvin Krash, perhaps best known for producing A$AP Rocky's "Buck Shots" and a collaborative EP with British rapper Kasien.

The track opens with a dark sample that features violins and a faint female voice. While beginning at a slow pace, the BPM quickly increases as hi hats and ominous bells fade in along with adlibs by Carti. The beat fully kicks in when growling 808's pair with a snare and the original violins from the sample. Carti enters the track with ferocious energy -- the lyrics moving from braggadocios to practically self-loathing by the end of the second verse. A hook, place between the two verses and after the second, features the original female vocals behind distorted rapping by Carti listing off his best and worst qualities, as he adlibs "Carti, Carti" after every other line. The beat slows down to the same pace it began with, now with some ominous chords covering the sample to end the track.

Fans are assuming this track will appear on his highly anticipated album Whole Lotta Red and may serve as an indication that the release is finally coming.
