My whole point has been that HOTY should be something that was universally loved which TLOU2 is not. It wouldn’t feel right for a game that 50% of people hated to win.

Or maybe people should use their voice so we get better games in the future?

If no one complains about the terrible ending TLOU2 has then we will just get more games with bad endings.

Theres no reason to be that toxic tho, if you didnt like the ending the best way to express your criticism is to not support that title and the future titles of that series and simply not voting for the game. People were hacking the voting site thats just sad

Was it really 50% or just an obnoxious loud minority?

    Absolutely trash take

How? What stood out from those other games in comparison to the quality that was brought from TLOU2 and FF7R? I’m not saying the other games are bad, loved them all but as far as GOTY tier material I don’t see any of the others at that status.

    Ghost better win GOTY man

If a game that half the public hates and half the public likes wins GOTY, imma be heated.

It can’t truly be GOTY if it has such a wide range of opinions.

Ghost was universally liked by the majority.

Yo shut the f*** up already

We get it, you’re upset. And only previous diehard fans are overly hating. It’s cool to dislike how it ended, but y’all are acting as if they personally hurt you

It might not be 50% but a lot of people do dislike it which makes a weird pick for GOTY imo considering GOT, FF7R, and Hades were liked by majority of people.

Doom eternal was one of the most interesting games gameplay wise, what game would you have nominated instead of it. Also animal crossing being boring trash is really subjective as it was many people's main way to deal with the pandemic. People were sharing their islands all over social media during the entirety of the quarantine so people were definitely having a lot of fun with it, otherwise it wouldnt have been the massive success it was. They're all goty contenders. Saying your take was trash was too harsh but i tend to get heated when people just look at tlou2 and got like the only worthy games

    ????

The ff7R story was f***ing trashed on release for its differences from the original and how they made it like kingdom hearts at the f***ing end

    It did hurt me

It was my most anticipated game of all time probably

My mistake, I’m not huge into final fantasy but all I personally remember were good comments about it.

Looks like Hades and Ghost are the last ones standing then.

Still, public does account for 10% of the actual votes so all of this is useless and honestly shows the "maturity" of these people who get mad at videogames. If you dont like something dont support it, its that simple. I hate mario 3d all stars and how that game was handled so instead of being toxic on social media i simply did not buy it

Fair enough. Like I said, I thought Hades, DOOM, and Ghost were all fantastic games. I put in crazy hours and completed all the slayer gates in Doom and enjoyed every bit of it. For ghost I thought it was good but I didn’t think it really brought anything new to the table and Hades was a super solid and underrated indie game. As far as animal crossing goes I just don’t think it’s my type of game, not gonna discredit anyone that enjoyed it. I think all these games DEFINITELY deserve the nominations but as far as actually winning the award I can’t see anything else other than tlou and ff7.

    This isn’t true

Doom Eternal and TLOU2 weren’t universally liked by majority of people.

I signaled out GOT because it has the best chance of beating TLOU2

I find fan voting for videogame awards to be kinda stupid cause i know 90% of the people who voted havent played and completed every nominated game

fan voted awards are an awful idea for everything in general, the only reason they're used is to increase engagement with said award shows.

luckily it's only actually worth 10% (as it should be).
