Y’all should ask yourselves some questions before making judgement

    1) John Legend
    2) Tony Williams
    3) Kid Cudi
    4) Francis and the Lights
    5) 070 Shake

If someone in a similar circumstances as you can do it then why can’t you do it?

legend and Cudi were successful but also had huge smash records out the gate and flourished when music was still Ye’s focus

Tony Williams never really had a successful solo career lmao huh

Francis and The Lights I’m not sure was ever a GOOD artist but again it’s not like he’s super huge, great music tho

    Verdict is out on Shake

I get people get frustrated with their labels but at some point you gotta do something yourself..like your name is known promo yourself. Get yourself out there. Do some cool s***. Idk man just seems like she’s taken this route every year since 2018

but if she doesn't have access to resources, her own masters (I'm assuming, maybe she does have her masters) and her label/Kanye are holding her back what can she do lmao?

Is that not marketing tho ?

Her video on we made it was also marketing especially since it was the start of quarantine. She was also on front pages of streaming services when her album was dropped. They put on playlist. They spent time on Twitter dropping silly tweets like this

    https://twitter.com/defjam/status/1250072761432768513

Again not saying that they did the best job at marketing her

But the blame can't FULLY be on them, her music really just wasnt hitting

Tweets and blog posts aren’t promotion and marketing

If Rihanna drops an album it’s gon be ads before every YouTube vid, Times Square ads, media appearances if that’s what she feels like doing, magazine covers on big publications, etc.

A shade room post and sassy tweets aren’t an adequate replacement for that

Instead of blaming others for marketing why don't you just admit that you're not that marketable

Teyana is always so dramatic all the time but she never bothers to do any self-reflection

Def Jam still hasn't figured out how streaming works

    Go there for career death

Thank you for bringing up the fact that their music was a factor.

I remember reading the Ye purposely put Legend all over CD to promote his new artist.

Think similar thing happened with Tony but his music wasn’t hitting so he gracefully remained a writer/background vocalist.

    Cudi self explanatory.

Cy Hi is like the modem Rhymefest and he is eating from the credits.

Francis we don’t have to go too far. His song was the Theme song for one of the biggest reality shows.

Ants is not even GOOD but he was all over Yhandi etc.

070 Shake all over the GOOD weeks.

Can’t say he doesn’t care about the artists . Once you get a platform you have to spread your wings, easy as that.

Let’s not go far. What you’re telling me is that since Kanye signed in the early 2000’s he shouldn’t use twitter to promote his work?

    I seriously hope you’re trolling

    not at all lol

but did you see any of her labels promoting her like that before?

also, swap out radios for playlists & it’s basically same thing

And idk why you acting like she Rihanna level status for her to get Rihanna attention, u also ignore my point about the playlist and streaming service thing

Exactly my point. Times have changed. I can get on a playlist and so can you. Back in the days it was something exclusive.

what is a label’s job if you can do all that on your own then?

    No you cant

I believe that's where all of this is coming from when she speaks about resources. The label probably cut her budget for her next projects because of her poor sales as they don't see it as a worthy investment.

“The music game is not good for my mental”

goes on IG live to gossip

I dont see how these two ideas contradict each other. She never said she cant air out grievances you’re putting words in her mouth, that’s an excellent argument technique.
