Bro I’m not sure exactly what you think my stance is here but I can tell you for certain you’re arguing with yourself at this point.

Idc if they even decrease police presence EVERYWHERE else in the city. Not in the subway stations. If you deadass think having less police in the TRAIN STATIONS (DISCLAIMER: I AM ~ ONLY~ TALKING ABOUT TRAIN 🚂 STATIONS) then you’ve lost all sense of reality and I have an incredibly hard time believing you live here.

Why do some people from nyc act like you have to live there to speak on it lol. You sound really dumb bro.

Yea I hope not, saw someone else pointing that out. All this Asian hate attacks really boggling my mind but I understand it’s not something I can ever really “get”.

Hope the victims and their loved ones can heal.

To the nyc people in this thread does this change how u feel getting on the subway now? I know for a lot it’s just how u get around by necessity and that’s not about to change. I have some older folks who say next time they’re around that they’re taking the subway cus people doing too much. I do a mix of majority subway, the city bike walking, Uber and lastly bus but I can’t see myself just not taking the subway. It’s just how u get around (to me). What about y’all?

Subway safety has been a growing issue in recent years. Before you could ride the subway and acknowledge that yea you’re gonna see some bums and might have some people asking for money on the train

But before these recent years I don’t think anyone worried about getting pushed into the tracks. I know I never did. But now you hear about people getting randomly pushed into trains all the time. I never really felt UNSAFE on the subway.

If I had to I would still take the subway tho. I was raised in NYC and I’m confident in my awareness and ability to navigate. My wife tho? An Asian woman? Nah I don’t feel comfortable with her on the subway alone at this point. Not after Covid era

I’m cool with driving for now and the foreseeable future

The NYPD is already bigger than North Koreas army lol. If these dumbass pigs can’t figure s*** out with the resources they have it’s clear that they’re not the people we should be relying on to fix things

half the issue in NYC has nothing to do with NYPD it has to do with the blatant year after year corruption of the local government and associated bureaucracy/agencies. NYPD is just as corrupt itself for sure, not saying they're a force for good, but they can't even do their job 90% of the time because local administration will pass laws preventing them from doing so and then funnel money to newly created "agencies" or like non-profits to steal money. This has been happening basically since Bloomberg. The irony of this is they aren't even taking that money from NYPD, they're still giving NYPD tons of money, but NYPD literally just uses that money to hire people, so you have this absolutely massive police force that literally does nothing

  • Nyc subways scare the s*** out of my man

But with that being said, the fact people want less policing in NYC is absolutely insane to me. Yeah, the system is broken as f***. But clearly s*** ain’t the answer. Should have police presence in every station because there’s too many incidents taking place rn

There should be officers on every single platform in the city. 24/7

They have the numbers to do it with ease

Edit: I’m not saying this would’ve prevented what happened today. But as far as general safety? Random assaults and the general feeling and perception of safety? It would help

Gotcha.in my time dipping in and out I’d agree with u on how it trending. It makes sense you feel that way about your wife seeing as a lot of these attacks r on women and vulnerable people.

You be safe bro have a good one

this wouldn't change anything because local NYC laws restrict in what situations officers are allowed to intervene in conflicts or arrest people. this would make everything worse and even make the perception of the situation worse because then you'd have a heavily policed area with crime still spiking, leading to even more confusion on what to do.

In order for Adams to be able to do anything he would need convince the other parts of the NYC government to allow him to repeal laws passed in prior administrations, which isn't going to happen for a multitude of reasons. He's a lame duck so long as these other policies exist on the books.
