So you want to spend 35k per year to stick a prisoner in a cage and allow corporations and individuals to make billions of dollars per year dehumanizing poor people, especially minorities rather than spending that money to offer support? The reality is that people want "punishment", not rehabilitation. It makes zero logical sense for our legal system to operate in the manner that it does.
