Internet radicalization is more to blame then video games

there have been mass shootings that had their genesis on 4chan, 8kun, etc

but nah its the video games

    no it's not

It absolutely is. Of course in the US you also have to deindustrialize and make sure you have a pool of young men without futures who sit around playing COD for 8 hours a day. It's not just culture.

    youre an idiot

Chill bro I’m not saying videogames make you a mass shooter but i don’t think it’s ridiculous to consider the possibility that they can enhance violent thoughts on crazy people

You really thinks it’s healthy to have 8 year old already exposed to shooting people in GTA, COD, etc?

Every national culture has a violent core to it, it just matters what brings it to the surface

Violence and sexuality is the dialectic that shaped humanity

If you want to get deeper into this, we have to examine modernity and post-modernity itself.

both parts of the jungian shadow

Video games as a recruiting tool for the military in the US is very real. The scale of the violence is on a whole other echelon compared to mass shootings.

Ctfu what a braindead post. I know plenty of ppl who went into the military and not one of them said it was so they could earn killstreaks and play team deathmatch.

It was for s*** like paying for education, healthcare, etc that should be provided to those who need it without resorting to going to war.

Only a 7 year old would want to join the military after playing a video game

Idk how you moved the goal post from preseason to the Super Bowl but that was crazy bro.

I’m sayin that on board security should be present. More civilians need to be aware of any weirdos looking to secure their motives. Everyone has a tell. Not saying this could’ve been prevented but a heightened awareness isn’t harmful.

    Anecdotal evidence at best.

For every: "I joined the military because of Call of Duty"

There are hundreds of people that are simply choosing the military option because of the safety net it provides in the US. Education, insurance, financial stability, etc. Things they feel they can't have without going that route. (Short sighted view for many)

You're correct. There are MATERIAL factors that put people in position to where the military becomes a good choice for them.

But you can read the military's own documents saying the best time to capture recruits is as young teenage boys before they have material concerns like the ones you're citing. When their only exposure to the military is through s*** like COD and movies that glamorize it. It's all priming the pump.

Mass shootings have become an important cultural phenomenon in the US as sad as that sounds, but that s*** is contagious

People are extremely irrational, highly publicized suicides always lead to a spike in suicides, especially among younger ppl, which would partly explain why mass shootings even more common among in schools

What was the original factor that lead to it is ip for debate but a big part of it is just some good ol copycat behavior mfs be like oh man he just like me and go sicko mode

It’s not even worth arguing with these kinds of ppl man. They’d rather sit around and b**** about everything being wrong than do anything that will make the world a better & safer place even by the smallest measurement. If everything can’t be fixed then nothing should be fixed in their fantasy worlds

When did I say it was the videogames fault? I play first person shooters since I’m a kid bro. You don’t understand my point.

And why are you saying parents shouldn’t let children play video games if you are saying they have nothing wrong?

Spree shooting is a relatively recent thing

I would bet a lot of anti-social and devient behaviour has been on rise since 2009-10.
Having so much access and being exposed to so many different things would do that.
