you doubt police presence wont make someone think twice?
If someone is going to commit a crime in front of other people, then I'm not sure they'll think twice if those other people are cops.
There just being people around makes people hesitant to commit a crime, if that's not a big enough deterrent, then the police probably won't change that.
y'all just ignore these people. they know police would not have prevented this. not worth arguing

this is just a dumb take.
doing crimes in front of regular people isnt equal to doing it infront of law enforcement.
yeah thats my bad, just reported injuries so far
All g, not even trying to detract from your larger point
y'all just ignore these people. they know police would not have prevented this. not worth arguing
I hope all the posters living in the city and their fam are safe, complete f***ing nightmare scenario
I’m seeing brain dead arguments on both sides
Can we just get a collective “Fuck NYPD”
Anybody that disagrees banned for life
He coulda robbed two people then lol crime still prevented my guy and a lot of factors go into it.
Crime still happens regardless and no amount of police is gonna change that bro, don't be this dense
Tbh of all people do you think niggas who commit legit terrorist attacks give a f*** if police present
Tbh of all people do you think niggas who commit legit terrorist attacks give a f*** if police present
I’m sayin
Tbh of all people do you think niggas who commit legit terrorist attacks give a f*** if police present
guy was dressed up too, he was doing it regardless

Thread ain’t even talking about this anymore
The argument at this point is purely being pro or against police presence in the subway period
Obviously there’s no way to prevent planned terrorist attacks with standard police officers. They can prevent other things tho. There’s a whole host of s*** wrong with NYC crime that needs addressing outside of that
I hope all the posters living in the city and their fam are safe, complete f***ing nightmare scenario
Welcome back.
Im okay with a police presence in the subway
Expecting them to be everywhere at once that is unrealistic
Tbh of all people do you think niggas who commit legit terrorist attacks give a f*** if police present
theres different levels to it
theres preventing it from happening at all
lessening damage done
catching the suspect before they get away or god forbid doing it again
no one is saying police presence 100% stops all crime from occuring, police presence can play a role in the s*** i just listed above
This is such a dumb statement to make.
You think someone who wants to rob a person is gonna give up because a cop is right there?
Obviously if you're gonna rob someone you'll wait until there's no police presence lmao.
Okay and if there’s cop everywhere what you gonna do then?
How is that not in favor of more police presence lmao
You just said nobody is gonna rob someone in front of a cop. Why not put them everywhere?
Tbh of all people do you think niggas who commit legit terrorist attacks give a f*** if police present
Facts, these people think cops can read minds or something

maybe consider the budget, the size of the police force, and how many stations there are in the city
any crime my guy, whether its robbing someone, raping someone, hopping a turnstile, shooting someone. odds are, its not happening in front of a cop
the point is more cops on a platform drastically lessons the odds of any crime happening
idk whats so hard to comprehend.
ok well, first, no it won't drastically affect anything.
I agree, it will lower the chance of crimes happening. At what cost though? Often, increased police presence might initially decrease crimes in some places, but the long-term result is an increase in poverty, an increase in unjust incarceration, and as a result, a gradual increase in long-term crime rates 🤷♂️
and then what folks usually do is throw even more police at the issue. which only furthers that cycle. In addition to being an ineffective solution in the long term, that cycle also has some serious negative effects. Not only will it have negligible impacts on long term crime, it will also probably make the surrounding community poorer and land a LOT of innocent people in jail, especially if we're talking about a minority community.
i guess the long answer is, yeah i agree, more police in metro stations will probably decrease crime in the short term, but this comes at a serious cost in the long term, both in terms of quality of life and overall equity and justice.
