  • Okay lets start of saying teddy a legend and has done enough genius level production that we don't have to really hold this against him.

A failed attempt of adjusting with the times but switching up his name to 'TR' and trying to rap and run with benzino was never gonna be a good move.

i see what he was going for here but this s*** is literally boottee

fake ass swizz beatz ass track, even down to the wannabe dmx hook

alright i'll give meth his credit he floated on this mess of a beat. he makes it sound ahead of its time but get to the hook/second verse from 'TR' and u realise how over the top he went with the sound effects on this s***. tf was he thinking.

Ngl all of these work for that era lol

I never knew Teddy Riley tried to go Puffy

Lol this is like if Just Blaze or Alchemist tried to make post Lex and Chop trap beats. I respect it, New Jack Swing probably felt super dated by the mid to late 90's and he had to reinvent himself

He could have kept that New Jack Swing sound going if he linked with Bad Boy but they were the ones who kinda killed it

Everything in pop music has its time. Timbaland wasn't able to adapt to EDM.

  • I mean by that point Pharrell, Chad, and Timbo had already surpassed him and were doing fresher things.

I honestly think if Riley paid more attention to some of the stuff Dupri was doing around the time he would be better off.

  • Some genuinely horrific production in OP

I think the amount of hate is proportional, that first track has 2.3k views

Scarface and Snoop sound good on that second beat (as expected), the Figadoh s*** reminds me of the beat on Shyne Bad Boyz

I like that the logo in the background of that Sisqo song looks like Dean Blunt Zushi

In summary OP is WRONG!!! these tracks are nothing to write home about but Teddy Riley is a legend and never gets enough love online in 2026

so he did adapt you just picking a specific time to hate on?

I think op trying to say he went chasing sounds instead of evolving his sound.

Weak attempts to trying to keep up with swizz timbo and pharrell while rebranding as a JD or puff were clearly not successful and didn’t work.

But it is what it is. At some point all producers fall off. Teddy couldn’t keep up with timbo and P. Now timbo has completely fallen off and outside of that clipse album P hasn’t done much crazy in recent times.

Doesn’t take away from there greatness to reflect on certain eras and realise it’s ass

Ur right shock value 2 era was f***ing awful. Everything being so over the top and every possible element being loud as s*** in his mixes like a edm sound was just terrible direction from him.

Idk how anyone can listen to that sisqo beat and be like oh nah this is fire. Purely from a production perspective it’s terrible
