Become the drake of pop is crazy

Any idea if she namedropped Travis? @PradaG
I’m going to echo what I believe I read in here last night about her approach to music. Granted we are on the receiving end so we don’t really know but it seems like as someone said that she is too songwriting obsessive. The themes and lyrics from folklore to know are in a similar vein and her working with Antonoff has created a standard sound. It’s not getting long-in-the-tooth.
I think a new approach is needed when she returns with new music (which I think is a few years away). I was thinking she would do well trying to find a melody, flow, sound of a track first instead of going lyrics first. Unironically, if she took inspiration from how I imagine Carti, Yachty, Yeat and other less lyrically focused rappers make music. Hear a beat or start humming a trajectory for a song then writing around that.
She’s a great songwriter so this idea may seem crazy to people with that level of writing ability, but just my thoughts. I’m by no means claiming to be a Swift fan either (don’t wanna front) just my thoughts as a very casual listener with a few Swiftie friends.
well put

The entire album was framed (by fans and almost certainly by her marketing team) as a breakup album between Taylor and her 6 year long relationship with Joe Alwyn (someone her fans largely like), with her statements, the track titles, and the lead-up basically all leading fans to believe that it's going to be about that heartbreak. People were ready for it to be heavy and for it to hurt like hell.
And the album is apparently a breakup album between Taylor and her 6 month long fling with Matty Healy (someone fans can't stand) who she started up with after Joe went through a rough depression.
A summer fling with a tool is apparently the heartbreak she's so sad about that she needed music more than she ever has before.

it’s VERY midnights coded so U lit
I don't really care about the tabloid stuff, but after HEAPS upon HEAPS of hate on Joe, especially with the title of the album, it's kinda hilarious to see this not come to fruition the way anyone thought at all
I have to agree. All of the kids on TikTok were tearing Joe a new one. Only for this album to be about Matty.
They’re going to be pissed. I just hope the music is good.
handing posty a #1, leading up to his potentially massive country record, i see the play

The visuals, her statements about this album having a major focus on songwriting, alluding to it being more of a “departure” in the vein of folklore/evermore
I don’t think anyone expected to hear midnights but with stinkier one-liners

To be fair, the track titles are all god-awful and seem to indicate some stinkiness ahead
