As someone who enjoyed Midnights more than Folk-more and will end up liking it more than this from what I've heard, half-way through, I've accepted she's just not the kind of artist I personally seek out anymore. With that said, I think I still find everything thus far proficient, so any criticism comes from that place.

Like nothing's bad. She's obviously a world-class songwriter.

Approaching her albums as a listener is less evaluating technical skill (because clearly she does what she does well even though it's just not exciting to me anymore) and more about how interesting she can get.

I wish she created... with lyrics at less focus? Obviously you want what you don't have, but I'd love to hear a Taylor melody pass. Something that clearly started out as a sonic idea, not a scribbled lyric. Even the intro of So Long, London is at least interesting in terms of production and how she uses her voice, which is nice.

I started to jump around after Florida, and I Can Do It With A Broken Heart hits that kind of itch. The same kind of lyrical strong arm she likes to flex, but more streamlined lyrics that still capture the neuroticism at the album's core without being verbose and laborious ("I cry a lot but I am so productive" same sis!).

The era's whole thing thus far has been "typewriters that saw letters we never sent! journals filled with my secret truths of you!" and it'd just be fun to have her forced in a booth to freestyle over something with a lil tempo. Though I think Billie might be usurping that kind of surprise 180 turn for the sad downtempo girls soon.
