she's shameless
Most artist/labels do this thats why we get early reviews like a day before.
some of her worst lyricism on this one anyway, definitely feels like b sides and random outtakes splashed together
On Midnight Rain and I kinda feel this. The album started off strong and fell all the way off a cliff with Anti-Hero
There are highlights for sure but even in first listen I can tell it’s not hitting the way Folklore and Evermore did
Idk i feel like its a step up from Lovers song writing but ya its still not great
I always find it kinda corny when she does that long word spoken word rhyming type thing
“Did you hear my covert narcissism
lightly disguised as altruism”
“I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices
and vices
I end up in crisis”
feels like forced lyric scrambling

Just feel like there was some misdirection with the aesthetic and marketing too. Was expecting some 70s esque influences and sounds with the covers and concept but it's more watered down 80s synth pop and some random reputation type "rap" songs

lover had bad songwriting but in a fun way
ALBUM OF THE DECADE
The production on Midnight Rain is nice at least
Maybe these are demos from the Folklore/Evermore sessions that she and Jack thought needed more synth-heavy production than the others on those projects?
Also Snow on the Beach was solid but I completely forgot there was apparently a Lana feature til afterward

Cruel summer & Paper rings
always felt those are two of her snappiest and tightest written pop songs

oh no I haven’t gotten to the rap parts lmao

Just predominantly Vigilante S*** and some spoken word parts throughout the album
This is a really common practice I’m really confused by their confusion
Lol people do this with every album release on KTT. People had a field day with critic reviews when Dawn FM dropped. People will just find anything to be negative about
so is she gay or f***ing not
It's clear she already sent the album to critics.
https://twitter.com/nprmusic/status/1583307209944899584shes done it again

Ah s*** I’m about to get to that one and I was already dreading it lol
i don't dress for women. i don't dress for men.

the marketing would’ve suited folklore and evermore way more lol this album def doesn’t have “i couldn’t sleep so i made this” vibes, sounds too produced and polished imo.
