Man what

you are the only person on the planet who saw supergirl and thought of Jersey Shore
Cabs are here
Man what
downside of watching with people that donāt really have media literacy
This was not great lol
Went with my friends to see this, and by the time we got done they were hating on it
I thought it had some good stuff like every time guy gardner and mr terrific were on screen, pa Kentās convo with Superman, and lex hamming it up, but very little to enjoy outside of that.
The dialogue was excruciating to sit through, and I really couldnāt buy the sincere tone when it was constantly getting undercut by over the top silliness. Felt like an attempt at capturing the energy of Sam Raimis Spider-Man movies, but this didnāt measure up unfortunately. I also was bored of Superman getting his ass handed to him for the majority of the movie despite having 3 years of experience, and I was more annoyed with krypto as the movie went on
Whatās most fascinating about this movie to me is that it felt like a cultural snapshot of the 2020s, what with the f***boy jimmy olsen and his influencer girlfriend, Israel-Palestine/Russia-Ukraine a***ogue, and billionaire sowing dissent through social media. Itās very much representative of the era we live in which was an interesting angle to take
I do think at this point I am too irony poisoned to enjoy this movie, but I can def see why people like it. I have pretty much outgrown superhero movies in general and this is no exception. In the same breath though I would still say this movie couldāve been executed a lot better
It's funny they retconned Gokus origin to have his parents be kind of like jor el and not as evil as originally shown and now this superman origin has been retconned to be like Gokus original origin
Couldn't help but think of the difference between this Superman making sure he did the least harm possible to innocent people and places versus Cavill's Superman doing heavy damage without thought or remorse. It felt like a clear shot at Zack Snyder and the BvS storyline and I loved it.

Loved that part

I really liked that they established Superman cares about saving lives above all else very early and keep it through the movie no matter if itās human or animal
Man didnāt even lay a hand on Luthor
Obvious thing that I havenāt seen mentioned (probably because itās so on the nose that it isnāt worth discussing)
I love how the Luthor corp goons were wearing tech suits that were the same tint/shading as Luthorās big mech suit that he will go on to wear
they were subtly dark green and purple
I feel like the hammer of boravia suit was like 90% a really great Luthor suit too. Take the helmet off and make it the right colour and
I was half expecting that to be the post credit scene

Theyāre friends probably not a shot and more like āwe dont want the film to revolve around discussion of innocent lives againā
Why superman weak af
i mean he was only getting bodied by himself really for most of the movie, when he was in jail he had strength again but not at full power from the kryponite poisoning
Yeah⦠we going to see it again this weekend
I can understand the issues people had with supes being beat the s*** out of the entire movie š
but i just felt it made his get back rewarding
so is Ultraman just š¶š or do you think if he comes back heāll have gained intelligence over time?

i dont know the lore so this isn't my stuff, just stuff i've seen on superman tok and superman tube and superman x
but i've seen superman fans saying it'll be the opposite, that'll he'll devolve into bizzaro which is kinda what the film went for but didn't go all the way.
the ultraman name seemed like a bit of a smoke screen because ultraman in comics usually has nothing to do with cloning, but Bizzaro multiple times has been a superman clone made by lex that goes wrong and comes out dumb.
so i've seen fans say maybe wherever that blackhole takes him turns him into this

which is what bizzaro normally looks like
