I get the frustration of wanting to have people invest in Black characters who are initially created for us/by us though. But with white people being literal writers of history and constantly telling us who we can and cant be, I do giggle when I see white people get upset that a Black woman is casted as a sea creature

yeah its definitely nuance I get wanting to create new characters for black people but the reality is they aren't creating new characters, new stories vs milking old stories and characters for money. I get the ideas of being forced or doing it just to do it but sometimes it just works or if they really like "its the best actor or actress for the job".
