I think it's more like... advancements in tech/new technologies have started to allow a lot of things like this to become possible... and it's the shameless/soulless people that make those possibilities real

so ideas that would have been unimaginable 5 years ago..like "immediate on-demand one click song machine" products inevitably became a real thing ever since they became possible, bc inevitably some people made them because a) they could, and they could make a lot of f***ing money in the process – and b) they value that money more they care about w/e negative external effects their products create

maybe because this is connected to the further devaluing of music. The fact that the big 3 labels have already allowed AI to integrate into their catalogues + the s*** (Spotify specifically) the streaming platforms are attempting to pull by promoting AI artists——to me screams the interconnectedness of what’s happening

I don’t think I like the response to this. Mfs really acting like having some form of privilege doesn’t help the majority of these artists. Talking about The Internet recording an album on GarageBand but syd and taco came up rich and that’s part of how Odd Future was even possible to happen, Tyler knew rich people who had a studio and the space and time and encouragement to do their thing in a positive environment. That s*** matters

I had an appointment the other day and while I was waiting in the lobby I heard this staff member running her mouth like “omg have you heard the AI music? They did bad romance like it came out in the 1950s! 😱 and even the artwork was changed! So amazing.” I wanted to interject but thankfully one of her coworkers was like “yeah I’d never listen to that s***, it’s good for jokes but not for actual art.” Then she kept trying to convince him how awesome it actually is.

Pretty depressing day and age for anyone wanting to devote their time to making music knowing the general public will slop up anything a machine can spit it out in a couple of minutes
