ROBO DOGi get you, people just consume things differently and view things with a different lens most times.
for me its not even about the characters relatability themselves but the scenario. yeah they are just a bunch of a******s looking for their crown and their payday but they are still humans that lost their dad and seeing their immediate reaction (even if it was breif) got me a little emotional for sure.
Roman refusing to accept it, Kendalls quivering face while talking to Frank, Shiv's initial expression, and her moment on the phone was the most devastating. the "dont go" and the "daddy". idk man it was a very real moment acted beautifully and brought me right into it.
maybe its not what the writers wanted or expected but im not going to second guess my initial thoughts because it was the "wrong" reaction

GIO GIOI think it requires a certain amount of empathy for people. All people. For me, watching these clearly broken children, who are broken due to how they were raised by their abusive, powerful father, grapple with the complexity of emotion that comes from an abusive parent pass definitely resonated with me. I don't judge kendall at all for trying to stay calm and composed and focus on next steps. What else are you supposed to do?
I feel like it takes a lot of pessimism to not have any sort of empathy for the children as logan dies. You're missing out on a lot of what makes the show great for me

No cap the casting was perfect. Each of the actors are really cultured artists in their own right and they are so passionate about the show. Judging by interviews they all add something integral beyond the script and role. Especially Jeremy strong and Brian cox.

I was just talking to my brother and he was saying how he didn’t feel bad for them at all. Even his gf (who cries over everything) didn’t shed a tear during the episode. I just thought that was so weird.
It’s not about being sad that Logan died. It’s not really even about the kids. It’s about mirroring their situation upon your own life and putting yourself in the shoes of a broken child who just unexpectedly found out their parent died. The way they showed the stages of grief and the difference in the way they all grieved felt so real.
I don’t know how you watch siblings react to the sudden loss of a parent together and feel nothing, unless your disbelief isn’t suspended enough to immerse you in the scene.

IcyNeckIt’s fine to cry during movies and tv, I just don’t think the show about privileged entitled antiheroes provoking their bitter dads early demise warranted sympathy when the show/actors so clearly tried to explain that they didn’t know how to process grief in the midst of their business vendetta. I thought it came across more pathetic than anything that we’re finally seeing the siblings come to grasp with their reality. The way Kendall experienced his grief in a business management way. The way Shiv only briefly lived in her grief before capitalizing on the benefit his death provides her. The fact it happened during Connors wedding and Logan wasn’t even there. Just a very un-relatable way process a fathers death was shown. I guess you could cry if you really really love these characters, I don’t. I love when bad s*** happens to the entire cast pretty much lol has that not been the entire show? Why cry now? Idk

two things some ppl have posted about earlier
1) they werent invested in the characters
2) parallels to the first episodefor me, the characters have mostly not been written as characters to be invested in. they are closer to caricatures, and the writers will turn the dial of how much to exaggerate their features as they need fit.
which leads to the next point in how the episodes parallel each other, but the feel in which they address the similar scenario is different. truthfully, i feel either ive just understood this show completely wrong, or the writers have just kinda gone for an easy route towards the end in switching to a more 'serious' tone. with the recent interviews however, specifically with cox, they have highlighted the shift in the show, so it sounds like it was done with intention, but i dont think it serves the same purpose, or rather it doesnt hit with the same impact as before.
in the beginning, i thought this show brought humor in how it highlighted the absurdity (yet unfortunate actual reality) that these characters live in (as well as us). the last episode, the writing and actors did an amazing job in showing a more realistic approach to such a huge death, but ...what about it? what are they trying to communicate to the viewer, and how does that fit with what they've shown so far?
i guess i really kinda loved the foundation the first two? seasons established, and im not enthused how theyve moved away from that i guess. i really found that interesting and engaging in the beginning, but as its moved away from that to a standard ol drama type beat, idk, i can find that elsewhere, and more tightly written if im being honest.
