i read the interview with cox via vulture, and thought this stood out

"what I think is nice is it boils down to the two people who matter to him most, which is Kerry and Colin, his bodyguard."

he later goes on to discuss kerry as kinda being way more intelligent than she appears. his take on her atn audtion is interesting as well in the sense that he says she did it out of finding it as something she should do, but recognizing it wasn't something she was good at.

idk, im not going to argue w the man cause he's the one acting, but if perhaps this is really true, its kinda annoying in that again i find the writers bending characters to make a certain plot point and then disposing whatever characterization when it no longer fits what they need.

anyway, maybe theyll flesh out kerry, or maybe they'll just marcia her i guess

hmm i dont look at it that way. think about how did the relationship start?

she has literally had her role from the inception purely for the money. from the onset, its been clear what transaction was, but the comedy is that connor is too ...delusional? dumb? disconnected? to recognize it for what it is. she's one of the few characters that's been honest the entire time.

connor on the other hand has wanted to make this fantasy a reality. if someone is clearly so hesitant literally every. single. time. any sense a move towards a 'real relationship' is discussed, then it's obvious that person does not want to be with you in that way.

furthermore, connor finds the only way he can ever make her move towards this goal of a real relationship is by bartering her with money (kinda like if she was something like...a. call girl or something?) but he again is too delusional to recognize it for what it is.
