When we just spent an episode watching them process trauma over the death of the head of an evil empire, I think it's safe to say yes, you're supposed to sympathize with them. It would be very easy to make them less sympathetic- for instance by making the show political. If only cynically and superficially with money still being their drive. Instead it's rather apolitical, you kind of like them or feel bad for them even if you recognize their inhumanity which you can just blame on Logan anyway since he "raised" them.

Even if Kendall has fake altruism a lot of the time, he’s still got some humanity, he’s not a repressed Shell of nihilism

Tom is hands down the most genuine of all the main characters. It's really not even close

This show is great at choosing unique central settings for each episode to revolve around. There’s not many episodes of them just hanging around the waystar office, there’s always some event, like a hearing, a wedding, a birthday, a private boat trip, a rival family estate, a rich people retreat.
