not reading OP but astrology is not real

there was a study done once where a professor gave students their horoscopes for the day and they were all "OMG this is so me!".... he had switched them all up and gave them random horoscopes lol no one had their actual sign. It's all bs and the people that believe and are really into it are so lost

    Makes u think.

It seems to me like that's not many things other than the physical relationship between objects.

That's the case for hard sciences yes.

Mfs love to call psychology a soft science while they're jerking off about their shiny rocks they discovered meanwhile we're unraveling the fabric of the human psyche

There are an overwhelming amount people that genuinely have the attitude you have when you're bullshitting about this not being science so it's hard to know for certain

I mean obviously i don't agree with the conclusion. If it's something that relates to the whole world (so not strictly talking about astrology here, Scratching said it was about the broader sense of anything spiritual) i don't feel like you can come up with a conclusion that matters if your data is such a small amount of people in the grande scheme of things. That's why i said i would have said the same thing if it was a different topic. We all vastly different, and y'all right it's more of a personal mentality if anything but i think it's a good one to have

I like to look at individuals, that's just how i be. I value each individual too much to personally care about conclusions like this

But yeah there def was bullshitting involved

And like i said before im not into astrology either so bruhhh cmon like

If you take this reasoning to its logical end all science and academia more broadly has to directly lead to new inventions that lead to an increase in productivity. That renders a bunch of fields useless includinf the entirety of personality and social psychology.

Also narcissism is a personality trait where in extreme cases it has a clinical diagnosis (NPD), so I guess this has a use in clinical psychology too.

    I can respect this

Respectfully speaking I think you're a little close-minded. Just because you don't see the point in something doesn't mean that there isn't a point and that this research is useless.

You don't see value in acquiring empirical evidence that says believing in psuedoscience is related to narcissism and lower intelligence? There's tons of avenues that research can go to explore this topic.

Maybe they find a way to determine if specific psuedosciences actually cause an increase in these outcomes? Maybe they identify different realms of psuedosciences to see if only belief in one topic has this similar correlation or if belief in all psuedosciences has this same correlation? What if at the end of all these lines of research we better understand how psuedosciences cognitively shut down the critical thinking skills that should prevent people from believing in this stuff?

Understanding how culture shapes our worldviews and how cultural phenomena can shape our worldviews (and how each culture can interact with this stuff uniquely) is absolutely not useless lol

Research is more than: how 2 get New Iphone Max 20 with DeathRay accessory !!

I can respect this as well
