    What a reach lmao

The mans just saying the money put behind this study was a waste of time

Theres more pressing s*** on the field of psychology to study than some revived fad

So what do you propose, more limits on the amount of PHD students who can specialize in personality psychology? Because I would argue that the most pressing field is clinical psychology and forensic for example and that every personality psychology study is arguably less pressing than research in those.

How far are you willing to go with limiting academic freedom like that

    Well...

    https://ktt2.com/does-capitalism-promote-narcissism-32507407

    Yes.

The nature of capitalism is to have what people don't so you can make money off them. The more frequently you can get them to rely on you, the better your "business model". Even if it means ripping people off.

Most marketing is tricking people into buying stuff they don't need. Imagine having financial stability and then imploring people with way less to buy your s***, regardless of how broke they are and if they even really need it. That's some real cut throat s***.

  • FlyHiii

Same thing, these kind of studies are really irrelevant to everybody besides maybe people like the ones in your field of study but mf they ain't include me or many smart mfs i know into the equation. So it's already false by default

I could easily make the same argument for sports fans, people who enjoy fastfood, people who go to the gym etc etc

It just doesn't make sense to me given how vastly different we all are. And it doesn't matter at the end of the day either so who cares

Also i dare anybody to start doing a minor in Western Esotericism and tell me the concepts and returning motifs are easy to grasp. That's why i said, it also matters to specify who are we talking about. Because yes, i roll my eyes too when i see a random mf talk about ''oh we don't match cause i'm a scorpio'' or whatever

The concepts of esotericism are hard to grasp because they’re bullshit that completely at odds with reality so yeah they don’t really connect with your average person

The conclusions of this study were obvious tho

Its to be expected of anyone who believes in misinformation

    psypost.org/2021/08/study-identifies-psychological-pathways-that-explain-how-narcissism-predicts-support-for-donald-trump-61711

    However

If anything itd be more pressing to focus a study on antivaxxers or stop the steal loons cause they pose an actual threat

then you can come up with specific solutions to those specific, more pressing types of misinfo

Lets say ppl who believe in astrology and stop the steal have the same f***ed up neural response, which is likely true. However the only way youre going to talk someone off of the ledge is dismantling the specific subject of their ire

At the end of the day i dont really care what academia does with its money because its largely going to good causes. Its just annoying to see such a lame fad being taken this seriously

  • FlyHiii

Wtf has race to do with this YIKES

Classic c***European getting triggered the second race is mentioned even though that’s not the point dude was getting at

But I forgot you have free healthcare so race doesn’t exist there so I understand why this is a difficult topic for you

I wouldn't put misinformation in the same category as this tho.

And this study isn't really taking the fad seriously, it's seriously studying the causes behind the fad.

And I mean there are plenty of studies on antivaxers, and on a much larger scale with higher budgets too.

This one study doesn't undermine that.

What do you want me to respond to?

You assume and state the conclusion is expected but there are many times where things that have been believed to be intuitively true have been supported otherwise by scientific experiments

As already mentioned, the study in OP is not mutually exclusive to COVID/antivax studies, unless you say we should shut down any funding period for studies that aren't about the most pressing social issues

Seems like you want to limit academic freedom for an arbitrary reason because you see surface level interpretations of studies and think "wow! waste of time!"

I don’t use astrology but there was one JP Morgan who once famously said

“Millionaires don't need astrologers, but billionaires do”

Also there are many sports teams who openly practice astrology. The Chicago Bulls (Taurus). The Taurus is also symbolized in many films even 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Lebron “The Goat” James. Born as a Capricorn and the Goat is the Capricorn sign.

These types of articles are contrived because when one sees how the higher ups use allusions of astrology in their works, you can see the difference between low iq astrology and real astrology. The Chaldeans practiced the og form of it and I’m pretty sure that’s been passed down to today.

    lebron "the goat"
