But is close encounters really a crowd pleaser?! I don’t know what people thought of that film when it came out but I watched it for the first time a couple years back and was underwhelmed.
On release, it was a huge success pretty sure and it landed a lot of Oscar noms. Now I don’t think it was loved like Jaws or Raiders but it was definitely a landmark film
just got out, Steve got another one
Let’s go
We'll be there
70mm Thursday night

I feel like this is a great time for an alien movie that also has an establishment/government/bureaucratic rot hiding the truth narrative. And it has a ‘blockbuster that’s got to be seen in theatres’ Nolan/PTA/Coogler thing prestige PLF angle from the guy who birthed that whole thing.
I wonder if the title is what’s holding it back. Would it have more hype if it was called something like UFO UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT or THE UNCOVERING or THE VISITING or something
I know disclosure day is a thing that ufo brained people will get as a phrase but I feel like normie masses who would go see an alien popcorn movie needed a dumber title

Doesn’t help the trailers haven’t been good and Spielberg now shot himself in the foot by saying this movie will make Christians question their life.

STEVEN SPIELBERG UFO MOVIE was right there
How thrilling is it?
there are some sequences that are pretty gripping and tons of fun
Much was disclosed?
can’t say just how much but there was enough to name a day after it
there’s some silliness for sure but overall had a grand ol’ time with it
they showed the film in Dolby as well, looked great
Watching Spielberg movies to prepare for this
Most of them I haven't seen before, so it's been fun.
They been more out there than what I expected, so far I have watched: Close encounter, jurassic park, minority report and A.I . Will try to squeeze in war of the worlds before I see this

Silliness in a Spielberg blockbuster is a prerequisite though.

Terrible quote by him
Reactions all over the place
I think Emily Blunt’s performance will be the highlight for everyone, the theme/message lack nuance but I still had a good time overall
I think the high of being at the premiere might’ve skewed my reception a bit though ngl. Probably a 7/10 movie
i've seen this compared to everything from scanners to the post
wtf happens in this film
