This version of Nice Shoes

Instead of trying to lean in to the Bad Habits and Gemini Rights sound that brought him mainstream success, Steve goes for something way more intimate and stripped down. A lot of acoustic moments that really let the songs breathe

This will likely alienate all of the casuals who discovered him because of Bad Habits, and that’s a very good thing

Definitely will have to give it several listens before I give my full thoughts, but this is really great

The highs aren't as high as they were on Gemini Season but this is a way more consistent album with absolutely no skips

took the drums out when he said my d*** is getting hard again

Kinda love that I was able to finish this on my bike ride to work, really good album

I think I love this album. Need to let it marinate some more though.

Whenever people say this it always makes me wonder if the “highs” are only highs because the surrounding tracks are inconsistent in quality. Maybe “consistent” albums are exactly that— consistent highs
