Like niggas must've not been their 2012-2014 to witness that s***, but the consensus really was that Q was the best on TDE

NIggas f***ed with Kendrick ofc, but Q??? Q was that guy at the time

Q was more compared to 50 Cent and Kendrick was a torch bearer for Compton in general

    Unforgivable

Q next album gonna be a classic, I can just feel it

Those 4 songs he previewed off his twitch was already better than the entirely of Crash Talk. He knew he fumbled the ball a little bit when he made that album and now he's gonna redeem himself 100%

It’s gonna be f***ing great. And CrasH Talk wasn’t The Big Day/Revival bad, it was just pretty mid. Atleast it gave us Numb Numb Juice and Dangerous.

    It LITERALLY was lmao

I'm very confident if I were to ask niggas that time, they woulda said Q

Q was brought up and played way more than him lol. No one is debating quality or whatever crap y'all tryna revisionist now

He never was more popular than Kendrick at any time. Q would tell you that himself

Was peak Q Oxy or Blank Face LP?

Blank Face LP in terms of artistry and musicianship. (I'm not including numbers or how much it sold)

I feel like Q himself would genuinely disagree with some of the posts here

Nah Oxy was definitely his peak in commercial popularity but Blank Face LP was artistically his best.

Just because it was more hipster friendly doesn’t mean H&C and Oxy were less valuable artistry wise tbh

Dumb post. It wasn’t that long ago. All of us were there and remember Kendrick being the biggest one on TDE since 2012.

I don't agree with the writer's take on Sxn.80 being overrated though

And I get the point he's tryna make with some of the "bars" on that record, but it's still really good

It’s not like Atrocity Exhibition or Some Rap Songs. It’s still a pretty assessable album, it just doesn’t have the party hits like H&C and Oxy did.

Everyone mightve known one or two niggas that fw Q more but overall Kendrick was running TDE and Q was never seen as the top rapper on that label.

Even in GTA 5 the only song I remember Q having on there was a Kendrick feature

Fair but I don’t think it’s fair to put down HC and Oxy just because they were more pop friendly. They’re still really well crafted projects that are far from being “generic” or dumbed down

Rock and Q had distinct experiences between Rock's OG wisdom and Q's substance abuse. Kendrick had a dynamic ability to take on characters of his own design. He was more opinionated on more issues. He had religious concerns, social concerns. His music was more versatile.

You probably misunderstood my post. I love HC and Oxy, they're not generic or dumbed down at all. I just think Blank Face LP was Schoolboy Q at his absolute best.

I still love and play those other albums though.
