Everyone shut the f*** up and watch this

Vader just completely controls the film from that point on. That’s all i could think about after my first watch

well at least TLJ and ANH is there so you’re not completely batshit

For the record, AOTC is 7th. But I do genuinely feel there are aspects of the film that completely go over people’s heads and that the romance is (not even secretly) genius.

AOTC is George’s unappreciated masterpiece. I genuinely wish it was 4 hours and I’m not trolling. Nor am I trolling when I say I absolutely love the romance between Anakin and Padme and if anyone wants to discuss this further I’ll gladly do it when I’m at home and can type better

I don’t disagree that it would be better if it was longer, but I think it’s bad because it’s so short. “I don’t like sand” gets clowned on constantly, but if Anakin had like 10 minutes to talk about it and say something heartfelt it would’ve made more sense

TL;DW: Disney is going try to say the sequel trilogy was set in an alternate timeline

This is just bullshit rumors but it's Disney so I wouldn't put it past them

Holy s***. I just got around to watching this. It was pretty believable until he said they were gonna reclassify the ST as Star Wars: Legends. Imo no way they are humble enough to do that

reason it’s only 2 is because the Finn x Rose s*** is really boring.

I defend a lot of criticism it gets but it’s still not that engaging.

TLJ got some of the greatest moments in SW ever

I can’t think of a moment in Empire that wasn’t GOAT

Like I said I’d prefer typing this out on my computer vs. my phone but people always bring up the awful dialogue... Anakin went from being a slave to a Jedi in training, he had almost 0 interaction with women until he was about 20. Him attempting to romance Padme, having absolutely no idea what he’s doing is amazing to watch and I really wish that was the entire movie cuz I could do without the rest of it.

What is with TLJ love in this thread? I loved it after I left the theater the first time but there are so many flaws, both filmmaking and storytelling. I’d put it like 6th probably

I hate that what you’re saying right now makes sense.

but ima keep it real, even with that in mind it’s still not something i like to revisit.

What problems do you have with it in terms of filmmaking? Imo it’s perfect in that respect... even though the story falters at points everything else is great

If you didn’t cry during the Yoda scene in TLJ you have no soul

Yoda was the only OT character who didn’t get MASSACRED by lucasfilm

The choreography of the throne room fight is shameful. Visually the movie is very pleasant.

I also take massive issue with the fact that Luke would murder the son of his sister/best friend

I don’t think that’s really fair to say tho because you can’t really look beyond the film. The way it ultimately plays out in the film does up being rushed and sloppy, and incomplete. If George has allotted more time to it I think it could’ve been sooo much better.

It’s pretty much a perfect movie. It would be 2 on my list but I’d feel weird putting it above ANH

I can’t have it above ESB and ANH, but it made me fall in love with Star Wars and it easily had the best first act in the franchise

To bad it copies too much of the ANH conflict beats cause that first act is special

the fight choreography is probably the most nit-picked s*** ever, you can find plenty of errors in most films.

also Luke’s never been painted as a perfect character, when he learns of the very real possibility of another Vader, that fear lead him to that fleeting moment.

In that moment Kylo isn’t Luke’s nephew or Leia’s son. He’s the embodiment of what Luke thought he destroyed for good 30 years earlier, almost losing his life (and pretty much the entire galaxy) in the process.
