The remake has been in development a long time, this spiritual sequel is just starting dev so it’s a long ways away. This release strategy is smart tbh have the remake out a few years before fotor to reacquaint people to the series.

u have one game in development hell with no official updates and an announced spiritual sequel to a remake series that hasnt even gotten off the ground yet

the presumed release strategy makes sense on paper. but with no confirmed release dates for either game, similar titles, zero gameplay footage and a bare minimum trailer that echoes the disappointment of what fans saw 4 years ago.. it's just messy.

i think they know that even from the initial leak to the title to casey hudson being attached - all of the hype for this lies on KOTOR's back

they could've easily did concurrent announcement trailers / footage for the remake and the FOTOR sequel, akin to what was just achieved with lara croft's latest news

kotor remake will be at a Sony event not something like this

then im sure they could've waited if there will even be any kotor news to speak of at forthcoming sony events

To clarify I meant Sony isn’t attached to this new announcement in anyway so I don’t think they’re involved in the new game, only the remake

So they wouldn’t both be announced at a Sony event together, if anywhere FOTOR could’ve been maybe games fest or comic con or something

either way lucasfilm games is the IP licensor for both titles. surely they have some say as to what gets revealed or marketed and when. dont really care what events it gets promo'd @

you're missing the forest for the trees. my point was the chronology and timing for presenting these games is off based on how they set fan expectations by promising a starter remake for this entire series 4 years ago

as a consumer they're playing in my face hoping i'll be impressed by a distraction that'll take another 5 years in development. even the swtor cinematic trailers had more flair than whatever this teaser was

I didn't buy the new Borderlands off the simple fact the CEO or whoever that dude was pumped his chest like he did. I'll do the same s*** with this game. I'm good on anticipating or becoming excited for a game this long for release. These niggas be trying their consumers with s*** like this so bet

Because this kotor remake (a PlayStation exclusive announced at a state of play) is completely unrelated from the development of the spiritual sequel and so the two teams are likely not even communicating, expecting the two games to be marketed together in a way that makes sense is naive. 2 different teams, 2 different companies overseeing the projects, 2 different dev cycles, era

imagine not coordinating the marketing of an established franchise while lucasfilm games plays into the connotation that both series are related. like what are we doing
