There’s easily a version where Rey is fighting Kylo at first then Finn summons the lightsaber. The whole trilogy looks different from that point

If you believe Disney’s version of the story which has been kinda sorta backed by Lucas himself, when George handed over his sequel plans, the only thing that really appealed to them was the female Jedi. They took that and then built everything around it.
