Jessica Kirson my current favorite. Saw her in a room with like 10 other people and it was magic. She was in between material so it was like 50% crowdwork. It was wild because I saw Doug Stanhope pack the same room out and he prolly only got half the energy.

dude they left the whole front row on one side of the stage empty and she spent the first 5 minutes talking to the chairs. like “this is great for my self esteem. Did you see my special on Comedy Central?”
The delivery of "So he took me to a little closet and f***ed me" on Mark Normand: Out for Lunch

Sucks you can’t do it right now with the pandemic, but anyone who’s ever wanted to try comedy should do an open mic at least once.
Open mics in LA are an okay scene in conjunction with living there. New York is good for developing material.
Nikki Glaser
Taylor Tomlinson
If any women were going to make objectively great specials, it would be these two

Also, if you live in a big city, don’t get thrown off when the “audience” at an open mic is just other comics waiting to go on. That’s pride f***ing with you. You fight through that s***.

It’s rare that non-comics will be at an open mic. It’s sad because it doesn’t help you grow.
Just did a mark normand interview
