Just saw this but: You said all this dismissive stuff and made assumptions cause your own bias against it being animated. It wasn’t hyperbole you’re projecting how you feel about the movie. And idc about the animation like that, it’s wonderful but not why I said that. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best marvel movie of all time:

• It has a stronger main character arc than any live action Marvel movie
• every moment, scene, nearly every major line of dialogue is set up and payed off in a thematically rich and satisfying way (the only Marvel movie that does to this extent)
• every scene is packed with clever reversals (the only Marvel movie with this btw)
• the comedy is A1
• the dialogue itself is A1
• Miles’ arc is moving and his internal struggle pushes the narrative forward constantly
• extremely tight plot
• brilliant editing
• every scene is a joy to watch
• the message is deeply resonant and executed to perfection
• it captures the idea of becoming a hero more potently than most superhero movies and its statement on heroes and Spider-Man specifically is sharp and refreshing

Put all this together and yes it is the best Marvel movie of all time; there’s no other Marvel movie this tight, this witty or clever, this resonant in themes and character while also being entertaining as hell and unique. Hell it’s so impressive to cause it accomplishes all these storytelling and filmmaking feats while being simple and straightforward

It’s also lacking in the flaws that other greats like Spider-Man 2 and Infinity War and Winter Soldier have. Now if you can’t explain why it isnt at least one of the greatest Marvel movies ever besides “oh it’s animated and y’all like it too much” then this conversation is pointless
