Yup, just rewatched it recently too for the first time in a while.
I think the diff there is that… there’s no levity to it. The movie takes itself 100% seriously, which I guess based on the subject matter, it should. Technically i think it’s wild impressive. But the bad things about it are so bad that I fully understand why it flopped. I’d still be in for another though. I feel like they’ve figured out the issues and can course correct

Speed racer did the trick for me. Was also a wiiiild theater experience. There’s some emotional beats in there that still give me chills. Final race is amazing when he’s whooping everyone ass and there’s the split screens to the family and the crowd and announcers losing it. GAHHHHH

they even did this weird little promo pop up thing in Williamsburg that was like a recreation of the movie world where we teamed up against other teams on all this sorts of games/challenges… it was actually fire now that I look back on it.
