This film is actually mad.

Not only does it make all the previous Sony films relevant and rounds up their arcs but it also fixes the issues with Tom Holland’s spiderman (iron man jr) and gives him a beautiful new direction.

I marathoned all spiderman films last week in prep and I’m glad I did it

Posting this here from Reddit cause I thought it summarized my thoughts on the ending perfectly:

The ending scene just broke me. Peter had everything, Tony as his father figure, May as his mother figure, Ned as his best friend, and MJ as his girlfriend, heck even Happy cared about him. He had a nice apartment and a nice life. Now he's all alone. No friends, no family, all by himself. To think he lost all of that just because he believed in something good, trying to be the "Friendly and forgiving neighborhood Spider-Man" but in the end he lost all of his "lives". But I guess all of it was important to his character, it's important for Peter to understand that with great power comes great responsibility. He just had to find it the hard way. Kudos to Marvel for creating this absolute brilliant of a movie.

The more I’ve thought about it, Tobey kinda got stuck with not a whole lot to do because his trilogy already wrapped up pretty nicely.

Garfield obviously had loose ends, guilt, all that.

Tobey just comes off as a dad type that’s just here to help, not really having any existential crisis lol. Thematically I’m not sure what else I really wanted to see him achieve. Feel like he just got to bro out for a little bit lol

He was the least villainous of the bunch, he just wanted the box so he could go home. He was the only villain who wanted to go home, so he was basically working against the other villains while also working against Spider-Man
