for me, there were two differences in Norman’s character here

The first is that Norman felt more desperate in NWH than he did in the OG movie which is why it seemed like he was more humanized. seeing him looking like a homeless old man instead of a rich hardass father def made me empathize with him more before the goblin took over. for a sec, I thought he was really gonna be the “good” villain instead of Ock

The second is that he was scarier. Raimi Norman of 2002 never puts fear in me when I watch it. but the MCU Norman definitely did. that’s because he had more goblin scenes without his mask this time. like that scene where Peter was beating the s*** out of him but Norman just kept smiling was creepy as s***. there was NOTHING like that in the OG movie

as far as the final 1on1 fight scenes though, I think it’s about equal. idk if this is unpopular or not but I prefer the Norman vs. Tobey fight scene but the Norman vs. Tom will also go down in Spidey film history as being one of the greats
