i'm hearing this one is amazing
its a masterpiece not even receny bias talking straight masterpiece
speaking of other studios this kinda makes onward seem like one of the top tier dreamworks movies in comparison
ghibli technically too, but they are very different from american studios
They the only ones who have the heart to compare to Pixar. Pixar themselves love studio ghibli and Spirited Away I believe was one of John Lasseters favorite movies ever made.
another movie that has a similar theme to this movie (but not as good or well done) is About Time
idk if you've guys seen it but if you enjoyed this message, I remember that movie having a similar effect on me years ago
I might've listened if you'd said Sony Animation. Just because they made Surfs Up and Into The Spiderverse.
But i'mma feeling a big NO for Illumination. Illumination is a poor mans Dreamworks whos only good/decent film is the first Despicable Me.
Their films are formulaic but very enjoyable (with the exception of hop lol).
I forgot about Sony tho

If Pixar is releasing 2 movies a year, you know one is going to be either meh or good (Good Dinosaur was meh, Onward was good) and one is going to be a masterpiece (Inside Out & Soul)
Studio A is the one who makes the classics and Studio B is the one to make the "good" movies to hold people over for the classics.

Understandable, but its just hard to enjoy one of their movies after seeing a pixar classic or one of Dreamworks best.
Its like going from 5 stars to Mccdonalds. Sure Mccdonalds will fill you up and it'll be good for the moment, but you WONT be thinking about it like the 5 star. Thats Pixar vs. Illumination.

I like that a***ogy
Pete Doctor absolutely was the rightful successor to John Lasseter. He earned that position with Monsters Inc, Up, Inside Out and this hell of a movie.
He did Monsters Inc?
I remember in the Pixar documentary when he first got the shot to direct Monsters Inc they were unsure of him because he had never even been assistant director was just an animator. That’s a dope come up

Flawless filmography
Holy f***ing s*** man.
I broke down at the end of this. The overall message about life got me thinking about my dad and wondering what his purpose was in life before he died. Also had me thinking about my own mortality as well and what my life is and will be.
Pixar never fails to amaze. This film might be flawless. Not sure if I’ll be able to watch it again for a while but god damn man
This is the first time I've been really excited by the direction in a Pixar movie since Wall-E. Maybe Inside Out, but less so. The editing, the lighting, the fusion of animation styles, it's so bracing. This is so far ahead of Onward it's ridiculous.

Aren’t they about to do the Mario Nintendo movie? Low key hyped for that
