I’m mainly learning rhythm stuff and playing mostly indie rock and metal. Stuff that’s not too hard. I’ve only been playing for real since January. First time since I was a kid and didn’t take it seriously back then at all. Now I try to learn for at least two hours a day or more.

maxxingThe reason you’re hearing about so many game studios closing and games being cancelled is because we are in this new golden era where the industry is growing so much and billions is being pumped into it and there are now like a hundreds of big releases every year, it’s just comes with the territory of the big explosion in popularity that gaming has had. Is it sad, yes, but it’s not a sign that gaming is dying. The industry is just really complicated because it’s so massive. A lot of the problems of mismanagement would be solved if more companies could just be fully independent so our only hope to truly see change is the whole industry shifts in that direction. I think it will one day.
I don’t think gaming is dying but AAA gaming in its current state isn’t sustainable and I’ve been following the industry for like 20 years . 5-10 year development times . Less smaller projects . Less dlc even or expansions vs micro transactions. Live service being invested in so heavy with mixed results . No physicals isn’t the end of the world but consoles do need to shift to online free to play. Paying a subscription to be locked to the PlayStation store is a tough sell.
S*** like that I rather wait til PlayStation 6 cheap or later in generation . Then get all games cheap from store . The cost of buying a ps6 at launch , paying for yearly online , buying from only digital store pricing with limited sales . For what they are currently offering is a tough ask

You’re right. The industry is in a big flux. In the end I think that indie games becoming more substantial fills in those spots that are left behind because of long dev times from AAAs. So the future is more games like silksong and hades 2 coming to the forefront, and then AAA releases are just scarcer.
Live service was a weird gamble I think less companies will bet on that gamble from now on. Some will still attempt, shooting for a Fortnite, but most will miss.
I totally agree with your points about the ps6. I think a lot of people will go that route because of the economic reality.
