All yall had to do was buy series x and play multiplatform games on Xbox (better multiplat console anyway), and sub to gamepass (the best deal ever in gaming)
Get a PS5 and never do anything on it except play the exclusives you liked
We’d had a console gaming utopia rn
Xbox coulda just made more exclusives lol
Prioritizing digital is one thing
Releasing major games on digital first and physicals later is one thing
Releasing digital console with disc drives sold separately is one thing
But stopping the production of physical games altogether??? Nah you’ve lost your f***ing mind and clearly think you too big to fail
"An astonishing 85% of PS5 and PS4 games were purchased digitally in Sony's most recent financial quarter, which covered the three month period ending 31st March.
That means the average for the financial year as a whole tallied 78%, an increase of 2% year-over-year and a record high for the brand.
Digital sales represented just 19% a decade ago, and got their biggest bump during 2020, when the pandemic helped push them up to 65%. They've been steadily rising ever since.
This all comes against the backdrop of a recent DRM scare involving the PS Store, which prompted fears about digital game ownership."
I made my peace with digital only since PS3/360 days. Only bought physical if the steelbook was fire
Xbox coulda just made more exclusives lol
they literally paid 60 billon dollars for the biggest game studio and STILL gave away all their exclusives

Consumers aren't likeminded enough to all not buy to make them reverse this
people fear mongering digital always crack me up
I'm someone that frequents the mall regularily. Went to EB games and Walmart, and you know what I see in the gaming sections?
No one.
People aren't tumbling to go out to buy their games in store when they can just press pay and it's ready for you.

sony just stole 100s of paid movies from people's accounts

if you bought movies on playstation thats on you
they literally paid 60 billon dollars for the biggest game studio and STILL gave away all their exclusives
They did that to go along with the anti-trust issues that were blocking their acquisition
They had no intention of giving away their newly acquired exclusives initially but they couldn't get the acquisition approved without that pledge
If you owned The Crew this already happened
to be fair thats also if you own physical copy of the crew too lol. thats not a digital problem. Thats a live service problem
@Kr0niic contrarian gimmick been getting old Frfr
@Kr0niic contrarian gimmick been getting old Frfr
ive been a digital only advocate since 2008 this isnt contrarian
First it'll be digital-only games
Then it'll be no buying single games, subscription packages only
Then they'll start charging subscriptions for individual games
And eventually we'll have to start paying for individual chapters in individual games
You think it sounds crazy now but these companies literally only want one thing from us and that's revenue
to be fair thats also if you own physical copy of the crew too lol. thats not a digital problem. Thats a live service problem
Wtf you think majority of casual gamers been playing bruh lol

because they're ordering their copies on amazon. the death of retail is real, but physical media has been on the rise again as of late. two totally separate issues.
Wtf you think majority of casual gamers been playing bruh lol
thats a whole different issue not a digital game issue
Xbox would’ve 1000% made this this move first if they weren’t hanging on by a thread.
They tried to do similar moves when XB1 was announced but got too much backlash
