I have inside information the sonic franchise is turning kids autistic
you are so threatened by the true game of the year
We've had Unleashed(was mixed back then. But overtime came to be considered great)
Mania
Colors
Generations
The only games I consider to be truly bad are 06, the Storybook games, and Boom. And even with Boom, that wasn't a Sonic team game. And with 06, the ideas were there, it was just unfinished and broken.
Personally don't feel like the franchise is as bad as made out. The vast majority of the "bad" games are usually just middle of the road at worst.
We also have a huge community of fan games
Yeah the issue is that all of those bad titles came out around the same time so I think it f***s up a lot people’s perception of sonic games
rough play through didn’t 100% but did it with the homie
did u like the 4th island? I know that one is kinda where the game gonna become divisive for some. But idk the dramatics of it all just sold me entirely. That entire arc was sexy to me
I love sonics model in this game. Idk if it’s different from past games but he deadass resembles like a 3D classic sonic from the side angle.

It's using the same model from Forces

slightly longer quils + new textures/material shaders. thats it i think

^ skip to 0:40 this is the best comparison i can find; frontiers sonic/hud/objects + a speed mod which ig you could compare to the highest setting in frontiers, probably faster. thats not the main point though
in frontiers regardless of how fast ur going, the sense is absent
the camera is flaccid, jump and airboost halt (??) ur momentum, the sense of being rewarded with speed for the right decisions is absent. rails push u at one speed regardless of momentum or angle. the polish is just not there like it once was. sonic is like stuck in like whatever animation he was in when he falls off something? the handling is clunky as f***, like they copy pasted it from forces.

i mean its night and day.
the open zones have the same issues conveying sonic's speed. the drifting is one symptom of whatever tf they've been doing.
the rest of the game is solid regarding the open zone/combat/lore but they're still folding on the most important part and have been for a minute. my point was they already figured all this out in 2008.
dawg just wait til u play the game
the generations levels r generally more complex than the earlier cyberspace stages thas a fact but generations had 9 levels frontiers got 30. s*** picks up over time. and the generations speed is obviously gonna be affected by the fact that bro playing had those stages memorized thru and thru. ur first time playing wont be like that.
the open zone rly doesnt have that problem. the sense of speed u see in that gens vid is 100% there in the open zone and is used in ways that no boost game, let alone any sonic game b4, has done. the sense of bein rewarded for good reaction time is throughout the whole game and it's really nice
if boost-style stages r indeed the most important part of the game to u then yeah weigh it heavy for ur personal opinion. but in terms of how the game itself presents this s***, the cyberspace stages r not the most important aspect

ngl this s*** looks lame af
idk i also expected the world to look way better and open so that might be on me expecting some crazy s*** from sonic, but this just looks more of the usual sonic s*** with more up to date graphics

If you're talking about how Sonic controls, 99% of ppl, including journalist and critics who don't like Sonic have been saying Sonic controls beautifully in the open zone.
The only person I've heard say it feel bad is one person a page or 2 back in this thread.
Cyberspace has been getting pretty mixed reviews on the controls.
From what I've seen
Journalist, and people who aren't big on Sonic have been saying Cyberspace feels fine.
Big Sonic fans however have been saying the controls in Cyberspace feels weird and off.
Been saying this since pretty earlier on.
But I'm quite sure the game is gonna have some jank here and there, and will be far from a flawless game.
The point is that they're going in a new direction and are experimenting doing something new. I'm just hoping they finally lay out a good foundation they can build upon.
I havemy even played yet, and I have some critiques based on what I know and have seen.
My comparison is Pokémon Legends Arceus. It's likely gonna be a bit rough here and there. But still a fun game that gets the series back on track, and hopefully the future games will build on what they have here

The open zone does seem to be the bread & butter of the game so if it’s good enough I can definitely excuse cyberspace levels being less than stellar . That video may have just been a poorly designed level in particular because I’ve seen other stages that look great. Also, does Sonic’s speed level apply to Cyberspace, or are they universal ?
All in all Cyberspace in Frontiers seems to be the new equivalent of special stages in Genesis era Sonic games so I’m not too pressed about them. I’m sure we can expect an inevitable patch after release as much as I’d hate to count on that

Speed level from the open zone doesn't apply to cyberspace

there is def a meme that the franchise is all-time terrible tho (blaming IGN & game grumps 4 that bullshit)
that being said their track record hasn't been that great 4 a while imo & forces is prbly the worst mainline sonic game 2 me which killed off my interest completely that was alrdy waning (06 don't count cuz unfinished)
look forward 2 christian whiteheads future work w/ sonic tho & i hope frontiers is good as well (i truthfully wouldn't know bcuz i avoided most of the news cycle s*** abt it)

Unfortunately Christian Whitehead probably won't work on Sonic anymore. Sega(not Sonic Team. Sega) fumbled him. Mistreated him and his team on Sonic Mania development.
Some of his employees came back to do some work on Sonic Origins. But they got mistreated a second time.
Whitehead now has his own studio and attempting to crowdfund a game(they're not doing very well though)

The general early reception from the vast majority of ppl who've beaten Frontiers is that it's a solid game.
Though, if you personally weren't a fan of Colors and Generations, it may not appeal to u

Because those are just the cyberspace zones bro lol basically as important to the gameplay as the special ring zones from the genesis days. There are like 4-5 open zone maps where you’re not just going forward and there’s a lot of exploration and puzzles with world enemies, bosses, etc. They even have a skill tree and all that for combos and traversal.
Have you seen the gameplay of the island zones?

They’re not doing well financially or as far as making a good game?

They're having a hard time finding the game.
Iirc they made a Kickstarter a while back and needed like $100,000. But they were only able to raise like $2000 or something.
Which is crazy, cause dude has a huge fanbase, and a following. So you'd think they'd be able to raise money like nothing
