Gambino from east Atlanta dont get it twisted
and went to an arts school and one of the best public schools in the country.
Honestly drake could drop those type of lines, would be a nice change of subject matter. But that's not what his music is for so be it.
Gambino from east Atlanta dont get it twisted
He's a 30 year old white dude don't pay him any mind b
and went to an arts school and one of the best public schools in the country.
So did Pac and Ye
The only time Drake made a political or cultural statement that I can remember, is when he explained why he wore black face after the story of adidon
I distinctly remember when SFTB dropped how the entire internet was in an uproar about Drake being a middle classed mixed kid from Toronto and not knowing anything about true struggles. Couldn’t imagine what the reception would be if he tried to tap in to something like OP is referring to. Damned if you do damned if you don’t in this world sometimes
and that was in 2013, just when the BLM movement started so I can only imagine what people would say now
And watch if/when Drake drops a conscious song yall gon call it critic bait/ white people pandering just like yall did TPAB
We shouldn't hold Drake to that standard being he's half black half Jewish from the suburbs of Toronto.
He seems pretty informed and educated thru his interview tho, I think that's the most we'll get as far as introspection.
Drakes music is him simply channeling his confidence
How
No1 cares about drake seriously talking about black struggles unless they are simply a hater. Drake isn't even viewed as an authentic black person to a lot of people because:
1. He's from the suburbs
2. He's jewish
This isn't new. If you black you know this. There's a perception within the AA community about who is really black and who isn't.
People care more about a street nigga or someone like Nas talking about the black struggle because they come from the black struggle
All problems specifically black related in US is literally due to being black in US.
You also cant pretend everything is all good when it isnt, especially when "fun" Rap is mostly about killing, how much money you got n cheating (not saying there is anything wrong with that in context, but just saying in contrast to "issues" rap).
I dont think op is saying all fun or laidback rap has to be deleted tho, just that he wants a more prominent voice (smaller voices do this already) to Rap more heartfelt or more about any issues, personal or worldly.
Which imo isnt hard to understand and is a growing sentiment in general.
we had all 2020 to do this, im not tryna hear about more black trauma in 2021/2022
Statement makes no sense… u gotta be from the hood to experience racism now?
they exposing themselves
I feel you still OP.
If CLB had some bars referring to s***, it’d be called Certified Legislative Boy
blacks
i love when @op gets ethered on 1st reply that s*** will always be funny

Why
If 2Pac was alive…
Ok
#1 that is definitely durkio
#2 we really comparing racism in the suburbs vs. inner city now??? Cmon y’all
and that was in 2013, just when the BLM movement started so I can only imagine what people would say now
It ain’t his lane and that’s cool. Some people choose to use their platform to speak on things and some choose to just use it for entertainment. At the very least at least I can say he’s neutral in his music and doesn’t do anything to glorify some of the plights in AA culture. This whole basis that you HAVE to speak on something is just a symptom of Twitter culture where if you’re not doing something that someone can visibly see or hear clearly then you’re not doing anything, even though we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes as far as contributions or aid go
